Which software would you recommend for making new graphics for a dmod? Because you know making a dmod with new graphics makes a better impression.
Thanks

I think Maya is better. You can get it for free at this site. Note, it is the PLE version (Personal Learning Edition) for non-commercial products, so as long as you aren't going so sell your d-mod (how dare you! ) then go for it! Note that it's a 375 MB download, so if you don't have broadband, then ummm, ask someone else to download it for you .

I do have a broadband connection (thank god) and i wouldn't dare to sell the dmod ( would be a ripp-off probably) what are the system requirements, cos, my computer's still dated back from the stone age compared to most of the members here 375 megs is a big download, isn't it? just hope the download speed is pretty high. Thanks merlin

Maya is a far more complicated 3d renderer! Though in the long run, better features. Rhino3d is the renderer that will surely get you started nice and quick with some decent models. Give it a go

actually, use blender!, its free!, and fully equipped with a nice tools and a renderer that works for what you want to do, and besides, you wont have to pirate it and come up with a lie here that you bought it!..

but Blender has one of the worlds most complicated GUI's... takes you ages to know how to use at and even longer to make something decent!

Okay - Blender, well, never tried it. Or heard of it for that matter. Rhino 3D - not TOO bad, but Maya is still much better.

Here are the system requirements:
Maya requires one of the following operating systems: Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional,
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 2 or higher) Apple® Mac® OS X (10.2.4 or 10.2.6)

Maya requires one of the following browsers: Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 5.0 or higher Netscape® 6.0 or higher

At a minimum, Maya requires a system with: Intel® Pentium® II or higher,
AMD Athlon™ processor, Macintosh® G4 512 MB RAM CD-ROM Drive Hardware-Accelerated OpenGL® graphics card 3-button mouse with mouse driver software 450 MB of hard disk space

So, there you go. The RAM requirement is a bit high, but I haven't tried it with anything lower than 512MB.

I like Maya because it has a, well, interesting interface, slightly more complicated than 3DsMax, however, Maya does have more power. After you use it a couple times, it's not that hard. It's kinda like Photoshop for the 3d world, where as Rhino is like, uh, Ms Paint for the 3d world.

but then there's the cost issue.. actually.. best things for graphics would be gimp and blender.. the both best, free and most opensourced 3d/2d programs out there

Well then, have to disappoint you: my computer just is toooooooooooooooooooooooo slow. Probably would crash if it even heard of the system requirements. too bad for me , But i'll get over it!

I used to run blender on my old Pentium 200 MMX which had 24 MB Ram and 4 MB Video ... that was version 2.12 of Blender... it is now at version 2.28. The interface does take some time to get to know, but if you've not used another 3D package before then you don't have to unlearn anything... Just find the various tutorials that get introduced to the interface and start from there. Just don't expect to make a walking/attacking monster in a day if you've never done 3D before.

I use Pov-Ray, with Moray as my graphical overlay (I can't think in Pov-Ray script yet, but soon I will. Muwahahahaha!). Dosn't take too much computer power, (my computer is also pretty sad) and it's never given me trouble.
