Growtopia - Seth's new mobile MMORPG
Not sure if anybody has posted this yet... but have you seen Growtopia? Looks kind of like an online 2d minecraft for android and iphone...
Sorry, looks crap lol
I saw a duck photo, heard some Dink Sounds and also the Wilhem scream.
Sorry, looks crap lol
Way to support RTSoft, dude.

I think that it's wrong to say something looks good when you really believe it does not...and I am inclined to agree with Quiztis on this one. Not going to change my opinion just to "support" RTSoft.
It's also also wrong to say that it's bad before trying it..
(But yeah.. I have to say it's not my kind of game...)

I want to try it, even if I don't like it or not.
Except, Quiztis and I didn't say it was bad, but that it looked bad.
I understand what you're getting at though IPlayDink, and I agree that I don't really know if it's a bad game or not. Mostly it's just not my kind of game, and I'm not going to support it just because it's RTSoft. For example, I know from experience that Minecraft is not a bad game, but at the same time I don't find it very fun myself. As for the effort put into the game and the fan following Minecraft has, that much is quite huge, and the number of options impressed me even if I didn't think it was that fun to play.
So yeah, I guess it's not really nice to say it looks like crap. But I will say it doesn't look like my cup of tea. And I don't have a smart phone so that just makes it even more unlikely I'll play Growtopia.

Oops, I clicked reply instead of modify... My bad. I was wondering why it wanted me to type it all again.
For a small company such as RTSoft, which has created a game this community is based around, and keeps releasing other very interesting titles now and then, I think it's wrong for us not to support and be thankful for their work. Personally, I think it's okay to judge a game or a movie by its trailer, but just plain saying it's crap, without giving any hint that it's just your opinion, nor any explanation as to why you think so, is a very poor statement. Seth has provided us with one of the first good, easy-to-use game developing editors, which has even been a kickstarter to some programmers who have moved further on that road. Seth also obviously holds this community very special to him. I think we owe the guy as much as to support his work.
Hmmm... well, that ended up being a kinda silly little rant. I guess it just annoys me how some people don't seem to get the respect they deserve from this community.

I like the tagline in the second trailer, "Because weird is good."
Personally, I try to support the work that I enjoy and I mostly ignore anything I don't, even if it is by the same person. But it doesn't mean I'm not still very appreciative of, for example, Dink Smallwood. I also haven't given up hope that Seth/RTSoft will make something I will enjoy just as much or more than Dink Smallwood. So in that way I still support his current endeavors.
I do think that saying it "looks crap" without having played it is a little rude, but the way I see it you can't really expect all fans of one game to support another just because it's made by the same person, especially when the game is so different from Dink. Well, you can, but it will ultimately lead to frustration and not really solve anything. So this is probably part of the reason why Quiztis comment did not really bother me.

I gave it a go on my tablet. Until there's a Windows release I will not bother. At least then I will be able to write autominers and lowball children out of their rare goods.
I made a world called KernSin which now has a door and a ledge. It's a truly wonderful thing. Go in there and put some dink-related garbage around.

I didn't say everyone should like the game. I said people should not call it crap, but explain why they don't think it fits their taste.

Wow, this new guy is full of forum wisdom on how to intrepet one's post. Take heed and learn from his words.
Also, today there was a new mysterious bowl next to the butter in the university resturant. Some brown seeds in some half-liquid mash or something to put on your bread. I put some of it on my plate, found my place and ate one of the seeds, just one.
(<- Yeah, I was scared. )
I'm glad I didn't eat more, those juices from that seed invaded my mouth and started to bully my taste buds into surrender. That was the most horrifying experience they've ever had in my entire life and I'm never going to even look at that bowl with mysterious seed-substance ever again. I so wonder what it might've been though, as I have no clue and the taste was indescribable.

What are you studying, Quiztis?
I soon have to apply for university for this fall and I don't know what I'm going to study D:

Eeey, I'm in Karlstad University on da "Computor Science" programme or in swedish, Dataingenjör!
It's tough I tell ya.
It's tough I tell ya.
Yaaay, I want to go back to school for that.
And Iplaydink, you should study art. Duh. Just kidding, you're probably one of those people with many interests and you don't want to be completely defined by one of them.
Also I'm tempted to try this game.

be strong dinkulum BE STRONG !!
To be fair, this is not 100% Seth made. I frequent the other site more and saw it announced there, and to be honest, I think the flavor of the game comes from there. It appears to have Seth's strange humor sewn in, but considering the catchphrase over on Hamumu Software has at one point been "Buy Dumb Games" I'd say that's where it comes from.
@Quiztis
Hmm sounds interesting...! Are you on your first year?
I'm currently thinking about this one on computer graphics or something programing related (which feels safer, I've heard it's quite easy to get a job as a programer in Sweden).

@megadog2
The game seems to be quite popular though... The forums at RTsoft are really active (at least compared to this one )

I'm on the second year now. If you're into graphics, I don't think KAU has what you're seeking. Mostly programming/design here. I think there's like one multimedia course.
I think that's because the game is out under RTSoft's name. Hamumu has been talking about how it's seen over 1000 players online at one time, but it's not getting the activity because it's not out under that name.
Anyway, I want to get it, and hope to do so soon.

Seth published an article on his blog documenting his experience with a game containing an in-game purchasing system as well as a link to an article called "Do Social Games Exploit the Mentally Ill?".
15000 gems cost $10. Sure, nobody is forcing you to buy them as you can punch rocks and trees to find them but it's pretty obvious that Seth knows that his game is of the type that may exploit the mentally ill.
In fact Seth even says that "If your business success is dependent on locating people who are poor at discerning value, you’re doing it evil." In the case of Growtopia he's targeting children.
