windinkedit plus crashing
anytime i open up the list of sprite's or use the detailed mini map it crashes. how can i fix this?

i have no idea. but this is what it says when it crashes.
So it's RW's program? He might know more about it in that case.
i tried both plus and plus 2 and both crash. so i don't think its just a problem with that one.
Did it ever work before? If so, what have you done since then?
it use to work over a year ago and i haven't really done anything different to this computer since then that i can think of other than installing/uninstalling programs, if that counts

I'm not sure what the issue is. It seems like a problem locating something, if it happens every time. You might try removing all the dink smallwood official files, along with both editors. Then install them again.

WinDinkedit is pretty unstable, it crashes all the time for me too. It's probably a modern operating system/DirectX/something problem, I don't recall it being that bad in the past...
Anyway, troubleshooting:
Have you added any new graphics? WinDinkedit is rather picky on what is allowed, e.g. if you added a graphic with a 24-bit palette, WDE might not get along with it, although usually that would just mean the graphic won't show up.
WDE is also a sucker for Skeleton B, so if you are using something else as your dmod base, it's that much more likely to crash.

You use Windows XP? No idea why it would crash then. Usually, Vista/7 have major problems with older programs and or programs written for older computers.
I'm still waiting for a Dink Editor built specifically for the terrible modern OSs that will not crash at any point unless you accidentally screw up the dink.ini.
But about your crashing problems, does it do it on both computers now? I recall it only doing it on one.

reinstalled everything and it still crashes. i dont have any new graphics and im using skeleton b.
well, i cant use the laptop anymore because the hard drive failed. thats why im forced to use this one for it. and i cant use my windows 7 computer because its not/cant set it up right now, and windinkedit works perfect on that computer, of course.
so now its started crashing when i click screens and if i move around.
Does it crash on one particular DMOD or all DMODs?
all of them it seems. but when i open up the original dink game i can open the sprite menu and look around the screen for a while without it crashing right away.
Ah, I had this problem a while back (if you did what I did). For some raisin the Windinkedit files have to be in the programs folder in C:. You can have Windinkedit in your Dink folder (together with all your Dinky files), but in that case it seems you have to put everything in programs. This kind of annoyed me, but I just made a shortcut to the folder in the startmenu, and I am happy that everything works fine, so...
