Porting dmods (or saved games) from HD to 1.08

I've posted as a reply to an old thread in file discussion, but figured this'd be a better idea. Cloud Castle 2 apparently has a bug when run from Dink HD, so I've installed v 1.08 and want to know if it's possible to copy over the files from one directory structure to the other (either the whole DMOD or just the saved game files).

I'm guessing this would be relatively simple, I'm just not sure which folders need to copied, and where to place them.

Yes, you can just copy the entire cc2 folder to where you've installed 108. \Dink Smallwood HD\dmods\cc2 -> \Dink Smallwood\cc2.

You can also copy only the save files, which are located inside the cc2 folder on both versions. (save1.dat, save2.dat, etc.)

Savebot saves seem to be compatible with both versions, but quicksaves and autosaves from DinkHD don't work on 108 (even if you rename them in the save#.dat format).

The one and only...

I ended up copying the whole cc2 folder into 1.08 and got the buggy event to work, but for some reason I can't seem to copy the savebot saves back. Intriguingly, I can load games from in 1.08, but the "save1.dat" etc files have modified dates from when I copied them (i.e., their the saves from HD).

Is there an alternate directory where 1.08 would be saving the files? I searched but couldn't find them. I'd rather play in HD cuz I like the tab/speed function.

If the tab/speed function is the same that i imagine, freedink has got it, too

If you are using Windows Vista/7, they might indeed be hidden elsewhere... Try looking for the files somewhere around:
C:\Users\mort(AKAyourusername)\AppData\Local\Virtual Store\Program Files\Dink Smallwood\

If you can't access some of those places, try to change the security permissions for that folder.
(right click -> properties -> security -> advanced -> change permissions)

...Windows 7 is painful.

What is this DinkHD bug with CC2? I'm playing through it now, would help if I knew what to look out for

Scratcher, you sir are a gentleman and a scholar.

As for the bug, it's a scripted event where you reunite a daughter and mother... dink hd just freezes up.

This is not only in CC2. It's a fadeout or a warp bug, or something like that. I really haven't figured out what causes it. Sometimes it works and sometimes it just doesn't. It's really weird.

That's a serious problem. We should get to the bottom of it and report it to Seth.

Just as an aside, I had a similar 'bug' happen when arriving at the villiage after releasing the dragon. After showing that everyone was dead the game froze -- "dink.exe has stopped working" -- just thought I'd add that tidbit.

Aha, so it's a bug with the player_map command.
