Harvest Season

I'm currently working on my first DMOD, it is far from finished but I'm interested in what you guys think of it so far. I'll try not to spoil to much about the story but give a main idea on what the DMOD is about and some screenshots.

Story:
Dink thinks it is time to leave his aunt and find a place for himself. He has saved enough money from his adventures to buy a house. Ofcourse he can't find Charlie (otherwise he could have bought the house south of his aunt) so he goes to Kirsola. Kirsola is a nice and quiet place where he doesn't need to worry about adventuring so he can focus his mind on getting a house and getting a stable life.

When Dink manages to get a nice house it is the last day of spring. When he wakes up next morning and comes outside he sees the world is covered with snow. Something is terribly wrong. After a while dink finds out that there are 4 fairy's who each control a season, so he starts his real adventure and has to try and save the fairy's and with it the world.

Autumn

I'm planning on making the DMOD not only about fighting monsters and searching for items but also throw in some puzzles to keep it interresting.

Since I am a perfectionist and it is going to be a bigger DMOD it will take months for me to finish it so you have to wait a bit for it if you like the idea, I just hope it is worth it. Anyway I would like to hear what you think of it so far if it has potential. At the moment I called the DMOD "Harvest Season" but I do not think it is a good name so that might change if I come up sith something better.

It sounds and looks neat. Hopefully you'll be able to finish it.

Although I must admit I hate the stupid fairies, and would rather see Dink beating the crap out of them than saving them.

Let us save our effort and just lie down and die.
Y'know, the problem with Reiner sprites is that everything looks like it is being electrocuted 24/7

Thanks for the responses so far I'm really planning on finishing this DMOD cause I really like the making of it.

Sorry for that but this DMOD there will probably be no fairy-killing, maybe a next one I make.

I actually don't have used any sprites from Reiner and I don't think I will cause I just don't think they really fit in with the rest of Dink, they are a bit to shiny in my opinion (guess that is what you mean with electrocuted).
I guess you are referring to the cows which I made myself because I didn't find any cow-sprites (discovered the Reiner sprites later). But I admit these cows do not look fantastic either but that is because my drawing skills aren't that good and I made them with paint but at least they are in dink-collors and not so shiny.

Love! True love!
Looking forward to it, I really like the melted igloo effect. Will more of the game be like that, basically the same map but with different sprites and season-related changes?

You made them yourself? Congratulations, they are actually really good! What I meant about electrocuted is that the Reiner sprites look very rigid, kinda like puppets or monsters in 70's films... They lack fluidity. But I'm only judging from stills; don't let my in-experienced criticisms hold you back.

I made the waterfall graphics also myself It is actually just tiles added to the TS19 - TS23 (with the fire) so it is animated. I actually made a lot of new graphics and probably will make more before I finished. Maybe I'll upload a bunch of graphics before I finished the DMOD but I prefer to upload them after the DMOD in a total package keeps it organised a bit.

Yes, I spent a lot of time in making and organising all the tiles and making a script so that if the global &season changes the entire map gets retiled upon entering the screen. And also a lot of sprites have a script so they change to the apropriate season, this way I do not have to use 4 different visions which is handy when I later want to use the visions for something other than seasonrelated changes.

They are actually really good! But I'm only judging from stills; don't let my in-experienced criticisms hold you back.
Well when they start walking it looks a bit strange still but if I got a bored moment I might even fix that.

This idea looks like it has some potential, I hope you can finish it! Especially if this is only your first DMOD.

And I too have an interest in a waterfall for my DMOD, so I hope to see them uploaded one day...

Well since the waterfall is something more people can use I just uploaded the tilesets. So when a staff member reviewed them they are available.

All other graphics I made so far I find either not good enough to upload them seperatly or come with a bunch of scripts and a manual (which I need to write) on how to use them properly. With the last I mean all the season changing sprites and since this is an important part of my DMOD I don't like to upload them before the DMOD is finished. Altough I promise that if I abandon the project (which is very very very unlikely) I will upload the scripts and graphics for others to use.
