The Zelda games are the best games ever made; Nuff' said
Well that's like comparing a Toyota to an Orange. Zelda is a whole series of games. Impossible to compare accurately.
I don't see why you couldn't compare a Toyota to an orange... They're both objects, you can compare them on many things such as nutritional value, usefulness when starving, depreciation, aesthetic value and the likeliness that the object in question will be used in a coup d'état.
The fact that I never played a Zelda game does disqualify me though.

The question is not which is better, but how are we gonna morph Dink and Zelda together for a bananarific RPG that will be open-source but only compatible with Nintendo systems?
Well, almost 2 years after the release of Dink Smallwood in 1997, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time was released in October '98 with approximately 8 game-figures having worked on it.
Now if we look at pics from some of the biggest games of '97:
Myth: The fallen lords
Age of Empires
Fallout
we realise that Dink Smallwood was actually quite good for the time.
Link's Awakening was initially released in 93, but the version depicted is LoZ:Link's Awakening DX released for GBA in 98.
So, Dink's graphics are superior to Zelda's when it is released, inspite of the fact that Nintendo has probably finished it's OoT graphics by that point. WINNER: Dink
Story-line: Zelda's is undeniably superior in 1998; Nintendo has, however, been releasing Zelda games for over 10 years. So Dink's story is good, horribly linear like Zelda's, and all crammed into one game, unlike Zelda's money-machine. WINNER: Zelda
Sound: Other then the fact that Zelda has had 11 years to develope it's recognizable soundtrack, Dink's is on-par. Zelda has a little boy who's like "hiiiiya!" Dink is a pubescent try-hard who's like "Hoo-ah!" WINNER: Dink
Gameplay/Engine: In '97, Dink's gameplay was superior to Zelda's on account of the fact that you could kill ducks. In Zelda, there was only one way to do things. And until OoT, the combat system was very frustrating - following the hit/run/hit model. However, Dink's semi-freeform gameplay was matched by Zeldas diversity of characters, monsters, dungeons etc. Yet this may also be Dink's redeeming point: An amazing world created with limited graphics/ scripts/ character variation. WINNER: It's a tie.
Re-playability/Life-span: Dink - until you get a girlfriend. See also Dink edit. Zelda - until the next one is released; even then, you'll only play each one once, because they take too bloody long to get through a story that's only orignal once every 3 years. WINNER: Dink
OVERALL: Dink Smallwood - 4; Legend of Zelda - 2.

Age of Empires!
That brings back some memories! I was raised with that game; my father bought it when I was 3 years old and we played it together year after year!
(Which resulted in that the first English words I learnt was Wood, Stone, Gold and Food)
Back to topic:
You can't seriously think that Dink is better than say 'A Link to the Past' or 'Ocarina of Time'?
The only thing that's better with Dink is the dmod system; that's why we are all here.

You would be surprised, IPD. I agree with Schnapper fully on this one. Except I would lower the two points off Zelda, aswell, and give them to Dink too.
Dink vs. the Zelda series? I think it has something to do with a bigger game budget.
Actually, I'll just COPYRIGHT you right there and say there may be an appearance of Link in a Dmod some day. Sorry kenji.
Sorry, you're too late. Link has already been in two D-Mods.
Nuts...
Then again, name those Dmods and tell me if the graphics were home-made and good quality

9 Gems and 9 Gems 2 has Link, the character, although Dink's graphics were used as him.
Skull, wasn't it you who hadn't even played a Zelda game to the end? I think you should before discussing the topic.
I have not been playing Zelda, ever, but a little bit. But that doesn't mean I can't see how the game is. Besides, I have seen full playthroughs of many Zelda games. So don't you start running your mouth against my opinions, boy.
You really should try one, a playthrough really isn't the same thing.
It is in fact. That is the same thing as saying "trailer isn't the same thing as the movie itself". Well, in fact, it is. It can all be told out of the commercial, whether you like it or not, whether it sucks or not.
But trailers really isn't the same as movies! A trailer is a confusing 30second clip with explosions and a low pitch voice, which really say nothing about the film itself!
Actually, that was clearly deliberate. Please get some eyeballs into those empty sockets of yours Skull and stop arguing
Playthrough's CAN be the same as playing the game yourself, only you're also criticising the play-througher's tactics

Bloody vikings
YOU CAN'T HAVE EGG, BACON, SPAM AND SAUSAGE WITHOUT THE SPAM!!
I'll just have egg bacon and sausage then...
Hey Skull, you seen Avatar yet?
Now don't make a fuss dear, I'll have your' spam; I love it!
Yeoldetoast, I would suggest you get a rope, tie it around your neck (the tighter the better) and jump off a cliff. That would make this World a little bit more better place to live in.
Also, I suggest tying the rope to a fixture and jumping off a cliff higher than your own height.
Pity? Why? The Zelda games are excellent games, so far, I'd say I've enjoyed all of them.
Too bad you don't like them, though.

i like both the Zelda Series and Dink Smallwood. both have there benifits and downsides for me.
one of the benefits of LOZ for me is Princess Zelda (call me weird if you want to. go ahaed see if i care).
the biggest downside however is that the game's mostly are expensive(not that i'm a stranger to roms mind you)
what i like about Dink Smallwood is the option to create a world yourself and downloading the worlds(D-Mods ).
and a downside to Dink Smallwood is they rushed the game to finish it.
so my verdict is indecisive.
I like both about as much for their own reasons and of you don't mind a have an Ancient one stew to finish just need to ad a few slices of Tal.

where is it?? is it typed in invisible text?? or do you call that one sentence justification?
Personally I think the Zelda games are better.
Sure, Dink has been making me laugh my socks off for the last 10 years, but the Zelda games have caught my imagination with their iconic characters and awesome storyline for all those same 10 years.
And I really don't care if that's against the religion of this site, I have more right to voice my opinion on the two games than someone who's only played one of them.
