knight puzzle

can not solve the knight puzzle. broke down and used the walk through, still no luck. what am i missing?

the puzzle where you have to hit the knights in a particular sequence to unlock a door. the walk through says l to r top to bottom 755211 17733 but it does not work. clearly i am missing something.
I dont remember a puzzle like that. 
It's on the top-most floor,,,one of the southern most screens. Two rows of armored cast statues. I mean,,,do you do the top row first?,,all at once, then the bottom row? When I tried that,,,my first hit on #7 in the bottom row,,the sprite was un-hittable! Number puzzles are not my forte and maybe I'm missing the logic behind this puzzle. But like alot of Dinkers, I hate leaving ANY stones unturned in a D-Mod.Am I reviving an old thread because I need help?
