Oooh yeah! Like i said...I've just bought a new laptop. Lenovo IdeaPad Y550 with:
Intel Core2 Duo T6600 2,2 GHz 2MB Cache

Funny you say so, my laptop is over 3 years old now and it's nowhere near as good as Goku's laptop. Except that I put in a new 320 GB HD about three weeks ago. So that's the only point I can match Goku's laptop right now.

Ever seen a server run day and night on a laptop?
Sometimes portability isn't the best solution, though it is definitely handy for working away from home or the office. I prefer desktops because of the bigger screens, bigger keyboards, and the fact that attaching peripherals to a stationary computer is much easier than doing so to a portable computer.
I wouldn't want to carry my Logitech speakers everywhere I go now, either. lol

Sure! Though having a special server computer (stack) is ideal for servers, those things still aren't exactly desktops.

- Bigger screens: not necessarily. Laptop screens are fairly big, unless you're looking at netbooks. Plus connect an external monitor like I do and it just becomes a desktop experience.
- Bigger keyboards? They're practically the same size...
- Aestethic peripherals: you should see my sexy black netbook with black accesories attached. That includes black monitor, disk, keyboard, mouse, mouse pad (it has a USB HUB built in), headset etc.
Fact is, I work from a netbook day and night, and use it like a desktop. If I need it elsewhere, I can quickly unplug it and take it with me. It usually runs for weeks on end. It's low-power, and it's a blast.

They're both different animals. If I were to buy a new computer it would be a desktop, because it's more modifiable and can be updated more easily. Plus it works better using a separate keyboard, it has a more natural position for your hands. Also the monitor position for a desktop monitor is better. Laptops are really intended to be portable, not to be computers you use all day long. Though you can use them that way, but you're best of having a seperate laptop stand so the working height for the monitor is correct and a seperate keyboard as well.
Still I want to have a laptop, simply because I need it for school. It's just a matter of what you use your computer for.

True (enough), and there's the fact that laptops will always lag behind a bit technologically. I just wanted to rebuke his reasons as they don't hold water much in my experience.
And sure enough, I use an external keyboard, making my real-life desktop into a pluggable portal for, well, devices that can be connected easily enough. Sure enough that's only my laptop(s) at this point, but no matter what I connect the working environment will stay the same.
