374 Midis

Score : 7.5 good
This is the grandfather of all midi pack files. It was released more than 2 years ago. Although I have never been a supporter of any midi pack since everyone can basically search and get quite a lot of midi files through internet, this is still a nice one. Back to the old days, there were indeed quite a number of people who used midi's from this file for their dmod's. So historical speaking, at least it used to be useful.

The greatest strength is that you have more than 370 midi's here (the file that I downloaded had only 371 files, 3 of the 374 midi's might be removed for some reasons). You should have more than enough to choose the right midi's for your dmod.

But the weakest part of this game is ALSO the total number of the files. In principle, more is good, but since the author did not make any effort to tell the users what those midi's are. So the only way to decide if the midi is the appropriate one for your dmod is to listen to it. Some of them are quite long, so that might make the work to listen to the files harder than find the right midi's from internet. It might not be very easy to categorize different midi's by their application or mood (because I think that's personal opinions), but at least some kind of name list should be available for people to have some clues. Also because this file is so old that quite some of the good midi's have been used in various DMOD's. If you don't want your dmod to have the same midi's as other dmods, you might be better to search some new/rare midi's through the internet or do them yourself if you have the ability to do so.

I did not go through every midi files in this pack, and I don't think this file is everybody's midi solution, but if you want to put some midi's into your dmod, this is a quite good place to find at least some suitable midi's.

For its previous contribution to the Dink community, I would like to give it a 7.5 to recognize its place in the history. If you want my score purely for this file alone, I would only give it a so-so 6.0.

This is a great MIDI pack. I've already gotten ideas on which ones to my new D-Mod "Dink and the Bonca" coming in 2005-2006. I can probably come up with 40 MIDI's for my D-Mod from this 374 pack. I shall give this MIDI pack a even 8. I found my #1 favorite MIDI as #345, Mission Impossible. I love that song/MIDI. The MIDIs are very good.

yes a huge midi pack... the mother of all midi packs... and without a guide whatsoever as to what each track is like which really detracts from the usefulness of this pack.

I don't have time, or the inclination to listen to 371 (or 374) midi tracks. If the compiler of this zip file had taken the time to listen, make notes on what each track could possible be used for then this pack would be gold... at the moment it's lead... just dragging me down.

There are 371 (despite the title) midiís in this pack that you can use in any D-mod.

They vary from very slow to very fast, from real quiet to very excited. In fact, in this midi pack you will find a midi for any situation, whether it is an intro, an exciting situation, a calm and relaxed situaton, an end boss fight... you name the situation and this midi pack has got the right midi!

Overall a midi's pack that is worth the download.

Without agreeing with Phoenix with the 16 MIDI's Pack, I agree with him here...

Strengths - The amount of them. The choice of MIDI's here is outstanding, listen to the number 374, and say it slowly. Isn't it a huge amount of MIDI's! These will fit into every situation and I have put many into my New Beginnings Series. By listening to the quality of them, I am guessing that James Perly has put alot of time into getting 374! Great MIDI's, any situation, I recommend you download!!!

Weaknesses - The amount of them, there are so many here, and if you are searching for something to fit a part in your D-MOD, you will have trouble. I know this really isn't James' fault, but he could have put them into different folders. For example, Chase, Travel, Caves etc. just for ease of use.

Overall - Great MIDI pack, a MUST for Dinkers!

Back from the ashes
This pack is packed with awesome midis. Most of them will fit in given situations in DMODs, you've got music that works for fights, taverns, caves, intros/endings, crazy situations, you name it. Although this pack is quite old now, and most of the good midis here have already been used, there's nothing wrong about "recycling".

This pack is worth a download, if only to listen to some cool midi.
