The Ancient, Unheard of "Unholy Triforce"
Well ladies and gentleman have I discovered quite a treat for all of you. Being both fans of Nintendo and older games I'm certain all of you have loved or at least heard of the legendary Zelda series.
Well most of you (including me) are probably unaware that long ago in 1989 Nintendo opted to partner with an electronics company called Philips to develop the use of CD's for playing games. Their contract was later dropped and Nintendo instead decided to better use cartridges which eventually lead to the Super Nintendo. However before the contract was canceled Nintendo licensed Philips the right to create three Zelda games. Although a Nintendo CD system made by Philips never materialized the three Zelda games were made by Philips for their independent game platform the CD-i console.
Since the games had the characters, but were developed independently from Nintendo by Philips the games were very different from normal. Overral they were considered very badly made and due to low sales of both the CD-i console and the games themselves most people don't know of them. This is good due to the bad gameplay and the fact that the story isn't considered Zelda canon (relating to the same setting) due to Nintendo's non-involvement. The fans even refer to these games together as the "Unholy Triforce". However their is something that remained. The uniqueness of the CD-i is that it could show animation in game, an early form of FMV's (full motion video) and they put this to use in the three Zelda games they made.
I warn you...as someone of decent entertainment tastes and a Zelda fan these could give you nightmares, nausea, severe anxiety, and possibly a heart attack. I give you the intro's, clips, and endings for the three games;

Zelda the Wand of Gamelon ending.

Zelda's Adventure intro. Live action and not animated like the previous two.

Zelda's Adventure ending.
For some general information on the games and how/why they were made I have the wiki page;

I will say one thing...the Princess looks alot more good looking in the animated clips here in the Unholy Triforce than in any of the much newer, much better games.
Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Interesting...I posted this somewhere else and the links wouldn't work when in HTML so I put the as is. Now here they don't work alone and I need to put them in HTML. Screw it just copy paste into your browser.

Blasphemy!
In the Sino-French War, amirite?
I have a fun fact simulur to this situation. Originaly nintendo teamed up with playstation (I hope you all know nintendo came first) and were desining a disk using system when they had almost finished the system playstation had all rights to the system and took the desingn and ran with it... thus the reson playstation and nintendo seem to compeate alot in the gameing industry. If i remember corectly the name of the system was going to be game cube like their first disk using counsle but the relese was delayed becouse they had to change the desine due to copyright laws. Vastly changeing the design of the system and disk.
Almost correct, except they are called Sony, not Playstation. Playstation is the name of the console Sony made from this research. And your story isn't completely correct.
During the SNES's life, Nintendo contracted with two different companies to develop a CD-ROM-based peripheral for the console to compete with Sega's CD-ROM based addon, Sega CD. Ultimately, negotiations with both Sony and Philips fell through, and Sony went on to develop its own console based on its initial dealings with Nintendo (the PlayStation), with Philips gaining the right to release a series of titles based on Nintendo franchises for its CD-i multimedia player.
And the reason Nintendo didn't go for a CD system for their Nintendo 64 was mainly because they were concerned about loading time and durability:
Nintendo was very public about its skepticism toward using CDs and DVDs to store games, citing longer load times and durability issues. It was widely speculated that the company was even more concerned with piracy, given its substantial reliance on licensing and exclusive titles for its revenue.
So... you're not quite right, and you should verify your sources next time.
