Hells Gate-Dev Thread
I have been working on my d-mod Hells Gate for a little while and I think I need some inspiration. The first half of the d-mod is about Dink finding out about finding out about the Hells Gate and collecting your group. The 3rd quarter is about Dink going and finding the Hells Gate and when finds a (good)ancient guarding it, he is convinced to leave his group and join him through the Hells Gate. The 4th quarter is Dink going to the ancient plane and battles lots of ancients.
Any input welcome.

Maybe use en-shoot for the evil Ancients, makes the game alot harder having enemies attacking Dink from a distance.
The disable-able volcanoes from I, Kara Gu would be good for a firey region. They're pretty easy to modify so they'll attack Dink anywhere. Hard as heck, since you're trying to avoid their attack and nullify them, all the while avoiding regular enemy attacks.
What do you mean by "your group" are they seperate adventurers? Which would be pretty cool, having NPC's fighting along side you.

I remember when I played PQ, Skard fought alongside you. Maybe you could study that/those script(s) from PQ.

Geeze, almost missed this post. Anyway, I think that some areas
(particularly if you're going to have fire areas) should be blocked of by walls of fire and the only way to get past them is the ice ball spell.

Indeed 'Your Group' is a group of up to 3 (?) people who each have their own powers (e.g. mage-magic warrior-fight etc.) kinda like Cloud Castle 2 but your group follows you around but stays a little bit away from you, so to tell them what to do you got to talk to them. Also the idea of en-shoot and the volcanoes are cool .
Sounds interesting.I'm looking forward to playing it.

Yay, I've nearly finished the (extremely) short demo of Hells Gate.
The demo resempbles almost nothing of an epic, and I will not be implementing any of the new features (mainly because they are way to buggy). But the demo should set the scene and get a little bit of the story going, also hopefully It will have the ultra realism environment (URE using several other peoples files like survival etc.). Hopefully it will be good.

When dink is sent to find the ancient artifact, he must first pass 3 challenges of: strength, Endurance(defense), and Enlightenment (magic)

Once Dink has past the 3 tests, he is then sent to the Village of Lost Souls and finds out that the Zeratuls guard the artifact. So he descends into the land of Zeratuls.

Dink passes through the land of Zeratuls with the inabbility to cast magic, facing many powerful enemies, he is nearly reduced to death. Just as he thinks he is about to die, he finds the exit...

Wow, these new features sound very nice. Except. I don't think Dink dying of fright is a very good idea. I think he should just fight worse and stuff.
Maybe make it that there are more monsters at night in non lit areas?
