Do you believe in ghosts? Or of any paranormal stuff? And by ghosts, I don't simply mean conscious spirits who want to perform acts (of any kind) on the world of the living, but perhaps simple images that have got stuck in a loop in a certain place. If you know what I mean.

Food for thought, eh?

this is no joke, my dad still sleeps with his lights on. when he was a kid he had a bunk bed with his brother and his brother would see this guy come out of the wall and start screaming but my dad would close his eyes shut tight so he never saw it, he was too afraid to ever look, but his brother would get scratches all over him and no one could explain it.

seriously my dad still has issues from this, also when he was like 20 he was laying on a bed at his grandpas house and he started choking and hearing voices or something. after that he became a christian and stuff and he raised me to believe in demons and all sorts of stuff like that.

the only experience i have with anything like this personally is one time when i was really little so i barely remember it (maybe 5 years old) i remember this lady in the back of our church started yelling and she said "there is no heaven and there is no hell" and to this day i still remember how her voice sounded like. it was just wrong, something was wrong with her voice it was like nothing ive ever heard before in my life. it wasnt human.

Whats always confused me is that most people who have had one experience are most likely to have another while some others never witness this in their entire life. Is there some sort of special trait or is it just luck of the draw, or are somepeople... "special"...

Me personally, no, I dont beleive in ghosts or paranormal activity. Just not enough proof to me, but I do beleive in aleins, is that weird? not exactly of the same beleif system I guess. Anyway

I don't know weither i was just looking at my lamp too long or I actually saw a ghost. I looked around my door, suddenly this transparent image glides straight at me. I got a small glimpse of its face, it seemed to be grinning. When it got about 1.5 feet near me, it dissapeared.

Freaky...

I read a book on the paranormal and it would seem the "nasty" ghosts hang around in Brazil. The ones that cause harm

i wouldnt be surprised if all the "nasty" ones liked to hang around the catholic churches. when an institute that claims to be one of god harbours a huge homosexual child pornography and molestation ring, people pray to statues, people pray to dead people, people claim to see dead people as apparitions, people see statues cry or bleed, and even people themselves bleed and feel immense pain and others take it as a sign of god....... call me crazy but the first word that pops into my mind is "demonic." the second word that pops into my mind is "fudgeed-up."

and did you know that to this day there are still mass graves of SACRIFICED BABIES under many old catholic churches from the mid-ages? thats something to clap your hands if youre happy and you know it for, isnt it?

The video was pretty stupid, but the music was cool. Sorta reminds me of the tv program where some american kids are sent to do tasks in some supposedly haunted place and they get some money for it.

Anyway, some unexplainable stuff has happened to me and I'd like to believe in ghosts for the sake of coolness, but I'm still uncertain about it. Perhaps they exist.

I may or may not have ever experienced any ghosts. But there was a period of time this summer when my presence would randomly make lights turn on.

I was half asleep and looking up at the light on the cieling, it was almost dawn. I was jolted awake with the sound of a loud click and the bright, shining light flooding the room. The very light I had been staring at had turned on. The click I heard was the sound of the lightswitch being flipped on when no one was there to do it. I was pretty freaked.

im quite skeptical of this story my friend has told me but hes is like the most honest person ive ever met, heck, hed take a bullet for me.

he lives in upstate new york 1 block from a cemetary. supposedly the cemetary was one of the most haunted locations in new york. a masoleum would rise out of the ground at night and go back down in the morning. his dad stayed a night there and claimed to have seen a statue cry blood. well one morning him and his friend too a walk through the cemetary. they relized how big it was. they went through some hedges and crashed into a coffin. they heard a wolfish-baby cry very loud and they ran. ran like hell. it was the last time they entered the cemetary. my friend's dad told me that inside the masoluem there was alot of graffitti of kids who camped inside of it. some got stuck in it when it sunk and never came out.

another story that my friend experienced was when he took a hiking trip up in maine for his school. this particular stary freaked me out quite a bit. well the students from his school also went on the trip. when they got to the woods it was around 11pm at night. the teacher was like "im not gonna follow you guys. something bout these woods, but i cant tell you." well the friend and the students hiked in anyways. well they began following a trail, following a leader, no flashlight or nothing. my friend told me they went throug ha barrier like place of brushes and branches. their feet started to move by them selves. no one ever made a noise. he said like his feet moved for him. they pasted another "barrier-like" place and saw specs of white al around them. after a few more steps they entered a clearing, all of a sudden they saw an indian guy sitting on a stump. no one ever said a word, the indian guy just stared at them. all of a sudden they entered another barrier-like area and the sky became red. they saw what looked like body parts hanging from the trees, and the same stump where the indian was instead there was a head which started back at them. the group went through about 5 more of these types of areas. then a kid said "lets go back" and my friend was leaading. he said that they went though all of the areas again with the indian guys and the body parts hanging from trees. he also said that he did not know where they were going cept his feet were moving for him, guiding him. they eventually went back to the parking lot. my friend checked the time it was only 11:25pm. no one ever said a word even on the busses home. but wen they got back to the school in new york at aroun 1am, everyone was all freaked out and the girls cried, the guys were all "wtf was that omg omg." pretty creepy stuff. after i heard this story i advoided woods for a while.

as for my personal experience. umm i was hiding in a dryer once when i was little playing hide and seek (still a fun game) my friends turned out the lights in the basement where i was and i saw a ghost. it flew around then went through the ground. i screamed running crying lmao. after that me and my friend came back and discovered a deep pit in the ground. so deep a flashlight light cant reach the bottom.

Ya I believe it. Sure it doesnt obey science's laws, but I blame that on a lack of understanding.

My step-Dad was working in a hospital as an RN when he noticed a bunch of other staff crowded in front of a room. Apparently their was an old lady in the room who was going to pass sometime that day (she was just too old) and the staff would just check up on her as she slowly passed in a comatose state. However at one point the lights went off in the room. When a staff member went to investigate they found a white glow hovering in the room near the bed of the dying woman. Its shape was abotu that of a human being. No one went in the room so they just all crowded around staring in. My step-Dad offered to go in (hoping to impress them) and went inside. Sure enough it was there...hovering. He thought they were joking so he suddenly found himself very scared. He took a few nervous steps toward the bed when the "spirit" moved in his direction. He ran out the door. The avoided the room and the next day it was gone. The woman had died overnight. Keep in mind she was old and had been sick currently so it was her time. No one thought the ghost "killed" her so much as it was somehow there with her.

Sincerely Freaked Out,
The Vault Dweller

Have people seen ghosts? Yes, that's what their senses told them. Are their ghosts? Nope. Humans are subjective, truth is objective. Isolated accounts can't be trusted, even if they are from people that never tell lies. You know how many believe in a diety? That doesn't make it real, no matter how hard they believe.

thats one of the most arrogant things ive heard in a long time. what you think human science is so supreme that it negates all possibilities of metaphysical existence? news flash: human practice is VERY far from flawless. you cannot and will never know everything, if you believe we can even know anything at all. there is always a doubt, a what-if, something else to question.

10,000 explanations for a big bang will never impress me, and 6,000,000,000 claims to support a single statement will never quench my thirst for one that counters it. sometimes metaphysical explanations are just more rational than physical ones. but even if you dont believe in ghosts, one belief is no more sensible or outrageous than the other.

People ought to study thermodynamics more, there are quite a few interesting phenomena there. There's nothing stopping a rock from transforming some of its internal energy (i.e. cooling) into kinetic energy and rising up from the ground, as it obeys "science's laws" perfectly, but it's just very improbable.

As for ghosts, it's difficult to tell whether I was imagining or what it was about... but I did once see in several nights in a row this figure of a blonde girl wearing some dress or something, leaning to a small shed, when I looked out of the window. This was at a confirmation school camp (Finns go to those )

Ok, I was expecting that type of reaction. I guess I stated my position somewhat incorrectly. Until there is ample evidence and/or a reasonable theory explaining their existence, I will not believe in the existence of ghosts. However, I find that these things are as likely to be explained as fairies and/or god. They come from people's minds, as do all science, but the difference is that scientific results can be repeated. Go on believing what you want, because when Baphomet is proven to be the one true goat god, I'm pretty fudgeed.

no one is saying little men in green suits live at the end of a rainbow with giant bowls full of gold and sacrifice rabbits at exactly 2 pm and if you dont believe it you are wrong. theres a big difference between spouting myths or fairy tales with very little evidence to back it up, and the realization that humans cannot explain all that they perceive, nor can they perceive beyond the scope of their natural senses (unless you believe in ESP and that sort of stuff).

so if you set science or any other human judgment over another based on the fact that it is believed in collectively, then look how many people here have added their stories. i would say just about everyone but you. is there even a line between science and religion at all? finding myself in a sea of doubt and questioning, id say there isnt one at all.

perhaps one day you will wake up and realize living a life of narrow minded justifications holds no real truth.

from the days of descartes, socrates, aristotle, people claimed to know such and such with a stubborn pride. yet these few have influenced the world in incredible ways by simply questioning the given. they have changed the lives of all of us. well, most of us. you can live in a cave and watch the shadows dance accross the wall, or you can ask... what makes the shadows dance.

there is a reason i come to this board and not one of the 600,000,000 full of WC's with worse grammar. people here are more open minded, kind, accepting of me. i feel welcome here. sure there is the occasion when someone says i say something pointless (*cough*merlin*cough*) but thats not gonna shut me up. i was here first.

But what if science IS a religion?

what is science and what is religion? if you answered science is fact and religion is fiction then you are like safmoor.

you can believe in physics and negate the metaphysical (anything not physical) based on the fact that it simply isnt physical, but then how can you negate notions that physical is a product of purely metaphysical existence? ie the source of things physical are not physical, they do not exist apart from the metaphysical. so these views are not mutually exclusive.

therefore

a view that physical exists apart from AND INCLUDING metaphysical cannot be argued.

a view that physical exists and metaphysical does not may be true BUT that the view that metaphysical exists and physical does not may not be just as true... also cannot be argued.

a view of the vice versa of the previous view cannot be argued.

so if you pick that physical exists and nothing metaphysical does, then what does that make you? a chemical state. and therefore, me taking a chainsaw to your face is different in no way from me taking a chainsaw to a chair. so therefore if thats what i feel like doing, there is nothing stopping me besides physical forces. does the chemical state of my brain wish to do so? do i have the physical power to pick up the chainsaw? the only life you know are names given to contexts of arrangements of cells.

its a bleak viewpoint if you ask me. but sure theres nothing logically wrong with it. the logic error is saying that the opposing view (physical exists only as the metaphysical) is wrong. they cant say you are wrong, and you cant say they are wrong.

so the real question is, do ghosts exist, or do you exist? (apart from a context)

summary: science and religion are both major parts of two possible and equally logic views. if you believe in one, you can disprove the other. if you believe in both, there is no proof that both exist.

summary of the summary: science IS religion.

Religon is crap, how can religon be right if there is twenty different religons out there, to pick a proper hypothesis then you must first pick a religon there lies the flaw

I've seen a ghost... I was like 5 years old, I wake up at night, I looked at the wall through my room's door. I saw a human shadow going to the left. I woke my dad up, I told him that I saw someone walking around our house. We started looking for him/her, but nothing was found. NOTHING.

Just think how scary was that for a 5 year old little kid! I was freaked out...
