The delirious voting for the 2003 Download of the Year has completed, and here are the results!

For the D-Mod of the Year... Simeon won with World of DinkC. Congratulations! It was definately one of the rare, excellent D-Mods.

And for the Development File of the Year... it was a tie between SimonK's Pilgrim's Quest Enemy Graphics Pack and my Trees. Congratulations SimonK and self for making graphics of wonderment and destruction. Ohhh yes, you know that my trees would crush SimonK's enemies.

And finally, for Miscellaneous File of the Year... drum roll please ... Mr. None won! Congratulations! I called him up on the telephoner and he responded with an absence of sound. I wouldn't expect anything less.

Well, that's it, see you next September for the Download of the Year for 2004.

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
Thanks to all those who voted Perhaps I can push myself to make a new D-Mod when some new stuff comes out so I can finally use the ideas/plans I have for a new D-Mod

Congrats to SimonK and redink1 for winning (or making it a tie) for the Dev File of the Year

Oh my god, the first DOTM/DOTY I haven't voted in since I joined TDN... Perhaps it's not that bad though, as I'd propably voted for none in every category. But it's weird, anyway, since I was going to vote, but.. kinda never got around it.

Why the hell would you vote "None" at the d-mods section??

Well, it wasn't the strongest year for d-mods. Only World of DinkC was a truly worthy candidate for DOTY. As good as Dink goes Boating was, I don't think it was good enough to get DOTY.
I would almost have classed it as a Development file...

A hearty congratulations to Simeon, Dan, and Simon for their lovely, lovely files. Hope to see more next year!

I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to.I guess.
I think that none was mine. Either that or I didn't vote... The reason? I haven't downloaded anything on there yet.. Yeah, I should really get around to all that one day....

Yeah, congrats to Simeon... well done.

And to redink1 for trees. The more trees the better.

I didn't think "Dink goes Boating" would win, and am pleasantly surprised it was only 2 votes away, but then not many people vote so 2 is actually a large number.

Boating was always a "tutorial" thing in my mind, not really a DMOD, but I guess it's the best place to put it, as you can play it like a DMOD.

Interesting to see what happens between now and the end of the year DMOD/development wise.

I guess with Windmere coming out, that's a pretty much assured thing in the development section.

The rest... well still 3 months or so to go.

Unless something else comes out that I haven't heard of, I'd say Initiation and Cloud Castle 2 would be hot candidates for DOTY 2004.

My money is on Initiation. The Walmeister appears to have done it again.

I guess you are right with Windemere... what other development fle can possibly hope to contend with that?!

I voted for Dink Goes Boating! Although Simeon and SimonK were both deserving of it.

Windemere (if it is released this year) won't be a development file. It will be a source project.

No award for Windemere then? Maybe we could all chip in and send Merlin a beheaded duck?

That's sure to make him feel better.

It won't if I don't release the source.

The development of Windemere stemmed from the release of the Dink source, though...

DUM DUM DUMMMMMMM Source project.

Uh, Tal?

No it didn't. I didn't use one single piece of source from dink.

DUM DUM DUMMMMMMM Not-Source project.

What I meant by "it stemmed from the Dink source" was that it did not surface until the Dink source was released. Whether it uses any line of source from Dink or not, I see it as being an improvement upon the existing source, what with it "maintaining and improving the code underlying the Dink Smallwood engine."

So if I were to list it in the downloads, I would place it under Source Projects. I may not have the end-all be-all mentality but that is simply how it would be, as I don't see it properly fitting into other categories (with the possible exception of Misc.).

Ahh, well I can't argue with that.
