Nobody nline, the new messages are 1 day old, and I'm getting sleepy. haaaarh bah bleah if anybody has something to say, he should say it, if he doesn't want me to sleep on the keyboard and send a message like :fuhvpuewqtgvipdslgvkq[oerwiy[gbvoi3q[hv ejhpqvujhpqejvhjqperhvqrev, y'know?? So just open a subject. I know, I know, this is the Nirvana spirit... I'm so ugly, that's okay cause so are you, bleah blah...

Mm... I just don't think it's a good idea to rely on the Dink Forum to give you a life (I did that four years back, and it worked back then, but it won't work anymore, cause something's changed).

Thank god I joined back then, and not now. I' was there in the (so far) golden age of the Dink spirit, when this place was really living (and possible to make a life out of )

The majority of us are Students, and we attend this place called School, and it deducts from our Free Time. I'm most certainly included in this; believe it or not, I do quite a bit of homework nowadays.

It will be more lively around here when major breaks roll around. It's always been like that.

Still, I will stand by Sharp's quote; Something HAS changed.

I think Dink Smallwood became really unimportant when PS2's and xboxes and cubes came out, dink really didn't stand a chance.

I personally don't think Dink is even in the same ballpark as those.. and not a ton of Dinkers play those anyway.

I've been thinking about this, and I have a feeling there will be revival soon. It feels like all the developers are holding thier breath to see what the revised new dink engine can do before they start anything big.
Then again, some of the best developers are spending thier time makeing the changes to the engine. They'll be back.

Ok, dink became really unimportant when PC's reached the graphics of Xboxes and ps2s and the like.

Eh, I dunno. If Dink is important to you, it's important regardless of PS2's and XBOX's and all that dandy stuff.

Yeah, it isn't like Dink used to be a really top-of-the-line game at one time. Its always had a fairly small community, and right now its just going through a period of unproductiveness.

keep it real
ive been into dink for a long long time. i remember playing it in 8th grade, so thats lets see like 4-5 years. at first i never came to this website but it grew a lot and i remember people saying it was going to die out, but there was a revival and lots of new people joined. maybe we are at the bottom of the roller coaster again but like the little thing that goes "click clank" will pull us back up to the top and we can put our hands in the air and scream and pee in are pants out of the utter sheer joy that is dinkness.

Yeah, Dink never was graphically attractive, but I don't think that's why people are even remotely interested in Dink. The modding capabilities have allowed it to survive for this long and it doesn't look like there will be any other game that allows for such lenient modding in the near future. And don't give me an answer like Neverwinter Night and Morrowind have modding support because those two have SO much limitations when it comes to altering things that you could never make something original out of it. I know, I've tried them both. I'll stick with Dink for the next few years or until Seth (or somebody else) releases a similar game.

Any fool can use a computer. Many do.
I agree with what has been said. You don't play Dink for the graphics (compared with other games out there) but the D-Mods have let Dink survive. I've been here since December 2001 and we've certainly had times with more activity. Hopefully it's now the calm before the storm.

Mmmm, pizza.
I believe Dink will survive, and these 'crappy' old graphics give the game a good mood. Hey, Pacman rules, but these 3D rip-offs nowadays...

Tal's got a point too, school is way too time-consuming to do a good lot of Dinking. The average now is about 6 post replies a day (rough guess), but during summer holiday, it was... HUGE!!

As DMods keep the game living, so will the new engine. Dink isn't dead yet, and I'm so glad about that!
