An Idea for a contest
I do not know how contest starting officially works.
However, I'm fully willing to learn.
I was thinking of making a contest on finishing Dmods where the Author(s) expressly state that they want their Unfinished Dmod or Demo to be finished by someone else than themselves.
Anyone can be a participant, as long as they try not to change the original quality of the Dmod(for worse)
Just an idea, which would hopefully bring some more Dmods into our hall of reborn Dmods.
What do you think ?

So, what's the contest called?
Finish The Unfinished Dmods Contest? Give it a good name.

Well we need rules too, when is the due date
all of that
name??
Dmod Rebirth contest?

Dmod Rebirth contest?
Dinking Again? I have no good ideas for a name. The problem is, which one of you besides SlipDink has time, enthusiasm and knowledge to actually finish a D-Mod? Any volunteers? Because it's no contest if it has less then two entries.
Well, we could call it ReDink, but um... that name is sort of already taken.
And BTW, it is redink1 that (as far as I can tell) who always runs these contests. How can we get him involved?
Maybe we should call it ReDink Too!

well, slip dink already has an entry, I guess it should count.
I'm sure there are many dinkers who just lack the inspiration, and could use something already started to make a dmod.
I plan to participate, but I'm just a beginner.
Redink1...

Also, there have been contests not done by Redink1

It is probably a good idea to post news concerning this contest before it begins, asking who will participate and which Dmod they will finish

no good ideas for a name
I'll do the rest contest... (personal favourite)
Unfinished quest contest...
Recycling contest...
besides SlipDink has time, enthusiasm and knowledge to actually finish a D-Mod?
I think time here is a major factor.

This is a pretty good idea for a contest. Just a few suggestions:
- Don't disallow changing the original DMOD. Unless the unfinished DMOD is pretty much finished (everything finished except the story) you will struggle to not change too much, especially if you want the style to not be too dissimilar within the DMOD. You can make it part of the spirit of the contest to not alter the original too much but don't set it in stone.
- The unfinished DMOD should be relatively short. People won't enter if it initially seems like too much work to finish.
- It's probably easiest to specifically create an unfinished DMOD for the contest, but that would probably have a negative effect on the number of participants. So maybe find one that has already been uploaded?
Overall I like it, just don't know if there would be enough people willing to enter. I hope there are.

Dink rebirth??
Also, I plan to make the Dmoders decide which Dmod to make
this allows the maker to decide their difficulty
thanks for the suggestions

maybe we can get you to finish your own Dmod!!
So, we need Redink's approval
does anyone know how to contact him?
and if you are interested in the contest please say so!!

Try using an "unfinished" dmod.
Actually a really good idea for another contest. Finish an unfinished dmod.
I hadn't actually noticed this
it is indeed a good idea
Please tell me if you are interested in participating!

The idea of a contest to stimulate the creation (or at least completion) of dmods seems like a good one.
But, speaking for myself, my efforts take too long for contests. So, I probably would not participate.
Sorry.
I do however, have some plans to complete some other unfinished dmods this year. We shall see what comes of those plans. I'll certainly keep the DN informed.

Certainly.
thanks!
although i was thinking about making the deadline quite far from the start.
to not limit the dmod.
that is something I found in contests, the end of the Dmod is often rushed and sloppier.

This sounds more and more like 'please pick up an unfinished DMOD and finish it' than an actual contest.
The idea for contests in the past was always to make the subject and time-frame limited so you have a good reason to keep the scope of your DMOD limited and actually finish it rather than dragging it out forever.
If you want to make this in a contest you'll also have to ask yourself a couple of questions, like:
- What are the prizes?
- Who is going to do the judging?
- What are the judging criteria?
The last one is especially tricky if you want to leave the option of which DMOD to finish open, because it requires the judges to play both the unfinished and the finished DMODs to judge the additional work done. (I'd definitely recommend setting the DMOD to be finished in the rules though, not just for this reason).
You might struggle to get enough entries in any case as only you and slipdink seem to be actively producing DMODs right now, though I might be surprised.

-eternal fame and thankfulness(if any of you wants to give money im fine)
-me???? and staff and whomever is interested.
-10 points for work done by the finisher. 8 points for overall quality of the game. 2 points for loyalty to the original(if someone decided to finish A goblin castle, points would be awarded for having something related to goblin castles)

I personally dont like choosing the dmod to finish, but anyways; which unfinished dmod would you recommend?

we are going to get even less participants because neaither slipdink or I will participate.
