New D-Mod: The Orb of Darkness
It's always nice when something comes out of the blue like this:
The Orb of Darkness is a new quest-sized D-Mod from brassweasel, with lots of nice looking new graphics.

Linux user, huh?
Windows users take note:
This only works in FreeDink as v1.08 will throw an error "Couldn't find one of the tilescreens!". Hopefully this will be fixed in a future version, but I've no idea what causes it
Also, you'll want to view the readme & walkthrough in Wordpad as Notepad doesn't recognise the line breaks.

Who the duck is brassweasel and when was this even announced, what.
Cool, not only a new dmod out of nowhere, but a quest-sized dmod out of nowhere?
Dink Smallwood, faced with the day-slaying orb of darkness and its perverse master, the bro of darkness... Does Dink have what it takes to rob the orb from the bro?

The map is huge. It's about 750 screens, although a lot of them are black. Map.dat seems to be corrupted though as it's of a weird size. Everything's nicely decorated which is nice.
I have a problem with dinkedit. If I try to use new areas in a map, it makes the file huge in size. I didn't originally know what kind of map size I would need, so I used an existing map from a large epic and modified the screens as needed. The result is that the map is much bigger than needed with many unused screens.
Hardcore DinkEdit user detected? You should check out WinDinkEdit if you haven't already.
Not that there's anything wrong with DinkEdit it's just so... old.

Can WinDinkEdit be used in Linux? I don't even use windows.
Awesome! This will definitely be worth checking out when I get some free time.
There be applications to make Windows software run on Linux, like WINE. Dunno how stable they are though as I've never needed them.
This DMOD seems promising man, trying it out atm!

My editor didn't get much attention lately, but now I've fixed all the reported bugs and it seems to be in good shape. Anyone is welcome to try it out. Especially on a GNU/Linux system, it should be possible to do it without my help, but the documentation isn't very good, so feel free to ask any questions, including "where do I start?" .
I think the forum is probably the best place to ask (just open a new topic), but if you don't feel comfortable doing it in public, you can also send me e-mail at wijnen@debian.org.
