What's your favorite Dink memory?
Could be about a D-Mod, or the community, or anything Dink related.
My favorite D-Mod memory is first encountering the elemental enemies in FIAT, because I was young and had just finished the main game. If that's not exciting for an 11 year old I don't know what is.
Favorite community memory was the Christmas contest a few years ago, I hadn't contributed to the site for awhile and the fanfics were a fun way to submit something. I'm glad they were well-liked.
Even though I didn't go, Dinkerview comes in a close second. Seeing the pictures and realizing that all those people are people I've talked to on the forums was pretty surreal and made me realize how tight-knit this site actually is.

When Skorn posted hundreds of pages of threads with the title "POOPY SAUCE" here.
Oh come on, I had way more than poopy sauce.
I guess my favourite memories were playing the original game and playing Cycles Of Evil.
I was new to RPG games then. It was an awesome feeling to play something that wasn't just point and click.

My memories of playing through CC2 and TGV are quite fond.
as for the community... the massive flame war we had way back when was pretty fun.
Atleast it WAS fun for young, immature zeddexx.... im not proud of it, but it WAS fun at the time... Just bein honest...

When I discovered the first dmod that i've played. The Isle of Croth. Nice thread, downloading again
I remember when I first joined this forum... I was a big fan of Back From The Grave. I asked Striker when he would release the full version. He said 'Tomorrow'.
I'm still waiting for tomorrow...

Probably when My sister figured out how to get of of the original village in Stonebrook
The Dink & Libby mod's main focus.
Just kidding. Killing Quackers and watching Ethel's reaction.

When I discovered DMODs and got lost in all the limitless potential of them was definitely a highlight of my Dinking days. But my best memories I think are playing the old DMODs like Dink Arena with my nephew and having a blast. We would come up with pretend story-lines for all those random monsters we fought in the arena. Sounds lame, I know. But it was awesome.
I haven't really been in the community very long so it's hard to say what my favorite moment there has been. I guess it would either be Redink's return or Cocomonkey finishing Malachi the Jerk and seeing how fun it was to see Dink get trolled repeatedly. It almost felt like I was a kid playing Dink again there for a little bit.

Is she 0.5 years old or 233?

It's actually quite hard unless you know how to play RPGs like these. I didn't know that you had to talk to everyone to progress in the game, so I was stuck in Stone Brook for a while.
But Dink's mom says to go talk to the neighbours or whatever.
I didn't know she meant it literally.
The games I played before Dink were like Mario, GTA, IGI etc.. which didn't require any talking.
Edit:
Well. Not for any real progress in the game.

I had a similar experience. Had never played another RPG back in 2001...

The Darklands MIDI theme....with Soundblaster/OPL on. That was so damn epic to hear but now Microsoft's GS Wavesynth ruined it.
My favourite memory's probably playing that old killer vegetable DMOD, I've forgotten the name, but I'd never encountered any mod for anything before. I was like twelve, and the fact that somebody could make something as silly as that, to me was just the greatest thing.
Never actually finished it though, I seem to remember getting stuck really early on

Realizing for the first time that you could kill jack by punching him through the wall in the main game , god when i did experience that? probably 2000 or 2001.....
^ Yeah. That's a good memory
When I played Adventures with Jani. The character was so weird and miserable, it really made me laugh.
Jani was great, I liked the title screen with Jani running across it going, "A BANG BANG!"

Huh? Does that work? It doesn't really surprise me, but I always circled him while casting fireballs, I think.
I don't really know about my favorite memory... I really like that it is open source, and that it is so weird. It means that when I think "why does that happen?!" (which is often, because it's so weird), I can look it up. Finding (and fixing) bugs (occasionally in Freedink, mostly in D-Mods) is always a very good feeling, and it happens a lot around here.
Oh and I really liked to get a postcard for winning the walkthrough writing contest! And the Dink Meet I went to. Those things show that these people on the internet actually exist in real life, too.
Going to the Dink Meet was pretty strange; I had discovered the site less than a month before that, I think, but it was in my country and I didn't have anything else to do, so I decided to go. That was a very good decision.

There's that term again. "Real life". Just what makes this fake? Just the fact it's a message board and we can't hear eachother on it? That...really makes no sense.

I'm not sure really. The lack of body language, I think. Not that I see body language from a postcard, though. So that can't be the whole story.
But you should know: you've been banned for things that you'd never do in a person's face, right? What is it about the internet that made you think it was not a problem to do it here?

That is a good point I guess, but I never considered anything to be fake just because it's online.
I just hate when people think less of events, things said, or even relationships just because "Eh, it's online. Whatever" or "my internet friend" which is another one I just absolutely detest.

i see what you mean skurn. But arent they really just terms we use cuz everyone else does?
I mean i personally know that i care about my "internet friends" just as much as i care about my "irl friends" they're both my friends but the terms just acknowledge that i only interact with one group via the internet, and the other in person...
I do understand where you're coming from though, i mean its 2015 and people still have this stigma about online relationships and internet in general.

Yeah, I guess. I still won't use them because they imply that the relationship or whatever is of lesser worth.
I remember once, a 'teacher' who is about 89 thousand so you can understand where this ignorance comes from said something along the lines of "people you talk to online are not contacts."
I look back on it now and just...what. What kind of stupid ass statement is that?
