Best overall Dink Smallwood editor?
Well what do you think is the best?
Well, I used the original DinkEdit back in the day, and I think the WinDinkEdit series is better in almost every way. That "almost" is down to the fact that in DinkEdit, you can use the [ and ] keys to cycle through all the sprites on a screen, so it's never hard or even impossible to select a sprite like it can be in WDE.
WDE+2 is super great!
Fun fact: I run a custom version of WDE +2 tthat RW made for me. It's fantastic...
Oh yeah? Wut's so speshul about it den?
Oh, it's got hundreds of new functions that you can only dream of!
There's a WDE+ 2?! What have I been missing all this time...

A bugfest. Simply put.

I run a custom editor that I made for me.
Anyone else is welcome to try it as well; you can download and try it, but I think it'd be better to ask me. It works pretty well, but the documentation is not really good yet, and it's changing quite a bit, so you may not get the latest version otherwise.

Same as kyle, I haven't run into any of the bugs people seem to have with WDE+2... It just works way better than WDE+!
I made Malachi the Jerk using WDE+2, but it had a nasty bug. All the hardness would get messed up if you tried running the editor and the game at the same time. I had this happen once or twice without even doing that, and I'm not quite sure why. I got around this problem by backing my mod up an awful lot.
WDE+2 is even known to erase complete D-Mods. It seems to work fine for some people. Personally found it very buggy.
Hm, I always run the editor and dink at the same time, and it haven't hapened to me.. (yet..? Maybe I just haven't dmodded enough )
WinDinkEdit+2 certainly seems like it's the most advanced available editor. For certain people however, it seems to have some rather serious bugs. WinDinkEdit+ seems much more reliable than WinDinkEdit+2. At the same time it's more advanced than DinkEdit or WinDinkEdit. So with that in mind, WDE+ is probably the best editor available.
I'd suggest trying WDE+2 for a while and if you come across major reoccurring problems, downgrade to WDE+.

Weeeeell.. Shevek's editor would probably be the most advanced... But I still haven't had time to set it up :/
I don't really consider shevek's editor as available because in order to get it you have to ask shevek personally. In that sense it's not publicly available.
you have to ask shevek personally.
Oh, you don't have to. You can just download it from Github and see how far you get. I'm just warning that you may well have questions about how to do things. But I'm more than happy to answer them.

I've noticed WDE+1 also had most of the hardness disappear in the editor if you run games in full screen while the editor is open. It's some sort of a visual bug, since everything will again be like normal when I close and start the editor again though (no hardness gets completely erased).
I use WDE+ mostly because I could never get WDE2 working right, but regardless I like WDE+, it gets the job done. I haven't experienced major issues with it as of yet.
