My Little Pony
Let's be nice to Kris, and start a proper thread for all further discussion of the show.
I welcome all those who wish to post, including those who can't see why we actually like the show, but please try to be nice in this topic. If you don't understand, ask instead of accusing, and so on and so forth. Love and tolerance and all that.
Among other things, It'd be cool just to find out how many of us are here.

Isn't that moral lesson learned from watching My Little Pony and thus the people who haven't seen it are less likely to have said judgement?
Isn't that moral lesson learned from watching My Little Pony and thus the people who haven't seen it are less likely to have said judgement?
It's not really the moral lesson of the show, though many try to say it is. It's more of a catchphrase both sides have tried to use in the past to get the upper hand in arguments. Point is, this is a relatively peaceful thread, and it would be nice if it could stay that way.
What is the show about exactly?
Six ponies and their experiences. Each episode has some problem that usually has some root to one of the main characters, and they spend the episode trying to solve it.
Haha, I like how you actually went and made a new thread for the topic.
About the show, I don't really know what to say about it, other than that it's fantastic. Great stories, great animation (these guys have really taken Flash animation to a new level), great characters, voice actors, gags and references. Everything's just great about it. Heck, I even love the songs, and anybody who knows me, knows that I despise songs in cartoons and animated movies! The fandom is also probably the best, and kindest I've ever seen around. It actually kinda reminds me of the Dink community back in the day, except it's much bigger and more productive. Plus, I really like how the show creators are so loving, acceptive and close to the community. Sometimes it feels that we fans are part of creating the show just as much as they are. I think the show's lessons have actually stuck with me, just like they seem to with most people in the fandom. I try to take things much calmer and I think it has taught me to be a better and calmer person in general. Of course, I still get mad from time to time but that's just me, but so far the show's done a better job than any of my therapists have.
I know there are a few other bronies on this site, but I'll let them come out of the stable, so to speak, if they wish to. But I don't think there's anything shameful in being a brony. It's the best, most productive community in perhaps ever. Hell, they recently made a full-length fanmade episode. That's a milestone in fandoms! If that doesn't convince you that the brony fandom is pretty dang cool, then nothing will.

All of the above, and about the hilarious references: The storywriters and animators of the show wanted not only the children to like it but also their parents. So how to do that? They added in many references to other stuff like the whole Star Wars ceremony walk and ponified big lebowski gang.

While I don't know anything about MLP other than the basic stereotypes, I do know that PowerPuff Girls is a great show. Basically, just because something is targeted towards a specific demographic (young girls in this case) doesn't mean it can't also just be a good show no matter who you are.
Funny thing you mentioned that, since the creator of MLP:FiM, Lauren Faust, also worked on The Powerpuff Girls. By the way, that was another dang good show.
*raises hand*
Yup, you've got a fan of the show here.
Yup, you've got a fan of the show here.
I've watched the first episode, and I liked it. I plan to watch more sometime. I've also been meaning to watch the PowerPuff Girls.
They're rebooting powerpuff girls, dinkulum. In case you didn't know.
They made a teenage powerpuff girls which sucked!
I think he means the 3D rendered movie, but as much as PPGZ was a disappointment, as a stand alone show it wasn't bad. It's more that it tried to be like PPG, and that it wasn't as good.
How do you separate yourselves from "Bronies"? Some people take calling themselves "Bronies" is a form of self-identity. I notice a lot of call themselves "bronies" now, making it sound like another form of classification instead of simply liking the show. It's like calling yourself a "metalhead" or a "juggalo" to me, especially since I see so much of that in the youth.
Well, initially I would personally have classified a brony as someone who's part of the MLP community in one way or another, and a simple fan of the show as someone who just watches the show. However, the more common thought within the community, and one which I'm slowly beginning to sort of agree with, is that everyone who likes ponies (not real ones, but "ponies" as in FiM-wise ), is a brony, and someone who likes the show and claims he/she's not, is a brony in denial.
I saw a really funny/good picture which basically explains it, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
I saw a really funny/good picture which basically explains it, but I can't seem to find it anymore.
I am a brony, and I don't deny it, but I think it's possibly to like the show without being a brony. It really comes down to if you JUST watch the show, you are a fan, whereas if you interact with the larger community, you are a brony.
Adult fans of the show are referred to as bronies whether they're "part of the community" or not, as Skull claims. It's like calling yourself a "metalhead" or a "juggalo".
That's what I've experienced anyway.
That's what I've experienced anyway.
I sometimes enjoy talking with bronies, if they have the same views as me. For example, I'm weary of anything fanmade that might not seem to be canon. Leaving that aside, I do not consider myself to be a member of any pony-related community. At least, not a contributing one.

i wasn't aware there was any debate on what makes you a brony. kinda stupid. if you're a fan, don't you just get the title by default?
also, what's the difference betweeen a trekkie and a trecker (no, i won't look it up). maybe this whole fandom thing is too complicated for an uncool lame-o like me.

but there's already two battle threads.
uhh, if anyone wants to see the last relevant post. maybe we can get this back on track.
Ah, there. Had to get that out of my system. Tea anyone?
Yeah me, thanks.
I never really understood what's so cool about that show. I mean..
1.It's a show for small kinder garten girls, so I don't expect a lot of story or complexity to happen, just a shit ton of pink
2.It's ponies. I personally don't find ponies too interesting. I mean, I do...just not.....those ponies.
So uh, if so many people like My Little Pony, then why don't we also like Arthur,eh?! I'm OFFENDED BY YOUR LACK OF INTEREST IN ARTHUR. I shall build my own Arthur fanbase! Yeeeaaahh...... We shall call ourselves....Arthurs?..no, arthies...No...browthur...NO...shit, this is harder than I thought.

you'd be surprised about the "little girl" thing. yes, a lot of the toys are aimed at them in stereotypical ways with the creepy hair and the pink shit, but outside of that, you won't find that in anything else except in small amounts.
it honestly looks like the show's creators and some toy manufacturers are trying as best they can to not go down the pink and glitter and gender roles path. and that's good.

Ok, but what about the story? Is something interesting happening? Does it have a ginormous lore that explains every character in detail and the eras of the world of MLP? Like the Elder Scrolls?
i don't think there's much lore outside of marvel, dc, star trek and wars and whatever with as much depth as the elder scrolls.
there's not exactly a continuing story, but that's not to say every episode is totally disconnected. events matter and the shit leading up to one of the season finale things was an ongoing thing.
hopefully other fans will know what i'm talking about there. it involved a big red guy.

So after all....what's the most INTERESTING, REVOLUTIONARY THING about MLP?
yyyeaah, see, that's equestria girls. it kinda takes what i said about stereotypes and stomping on it. first one was alright.
second one brought the high school stereotypes and bland pop music out in full force and i couldn't keep going for more than 5 minutes or something.
on the upside, that video you posted has vinyl scratch being absolutely awesome as always.

Ok, so equestria is human girls...then..where are the ponies?
equestria is the name of continent in the show. in the first equestria girls movie, some bitch called sunset shimmer steals twilight sparkle's crown and flees to earth, so she goes in after them.
but, this is apparently the Doug version of earth because there's a bunch of people with their pony counterparts' colours as their skin and hair.
dunno if there would be ponies on earth in this universe since there are no humans on whatever planet equestria's on.

So there's different versions of the same realm?!
yep, alternate dimensions linked by a mirror.
there's some real neato holy shit stuff in mlp. do you like giant energy cannons?
Say no more, dude B-) They are my favourte object in this whole world.
have i got some news for you.
it's a while in, but if you end up like me, that'll take around 4 seconds to get to.
Can't get it. South park & Rick and Morty rules.

a blank tagline confirms Fluttershy as best pony?
"I'd like to be a tree..."
oooh, hang on. i see now. i thought you meant godley's tagline because i'm dumb as hell. although, i could say my favourite pony with a blank tagline. or pick a quote from a non-canon source.

i ponified dink, so it's up to you to fulfill the other half of the prophecy and draw his dick.
Have you never played any of SimonK's dmods?

Funnily enough, I almost added "unless you count Simon's D-Mods" in that post.

Nah, I don't wanna ruin knowing that one thing that doesn't have Rule 34 made of it. It's pretty rare these days. Almost feels like a special honour.

(There, I have said it above.)
alright, everypony. what do you think about g5 so far?
i think the movie came out way the duck too early and that people are already losing interest in it before the new show is even close to here.
in any case, g4 is still better and g5 is just...not following the setting correctly in any capacity. on its own, its ok. but, the problem is, that it's meant to share the same universe. it's like if i made a dink smallwood movie and castle goodheart was on koka isle and dink had a gun and was in love with milder.

@Skurn:
Well, I can promise you that that my upcoming dmod, "Periculo Island" has a cameo appearance of a pony in it (somewhat like what my "All that Glitters" dmod did). And, I'm hoping to finish a beta release of it by the end of first quarter 2022.
However, I have no idea about what g4 and g5 are and I also have no desire to learn more about them. There is only so much pandering to individual tastes of some members of the DN that I'm willing to do.
