Man, mazes are hard!
Does anyone else have trouble mapping mazes? I'm putting a simple one in my Alt Hero d-mod, but it is hurting my head like anything!!

WDE makes it a lot easier to visualize mazes.
But other than that... I've found that drawing them on graph paper works pretty good. Think of each square as one tile, and tada. Drawing lines is faster than laying tiles, and erasing allows you to make quick changes. I did that with the Water Dungeon for FIAT.

You've seen it Arik, and it's not exactly a large maze is it? It's only small, and it's not that mazey either really. But it is gonna be ok, and not really boring.
And cheers redink, I think I'll try windink and see if that helps much. But I'm not using tiles, I'm using sprites, and that protracts the procedure greatly. Wow, look at those long words! Am I turning into Arik?

I couldn't agree more, redink1. That's generally the best way to do mapping. It's a lot easier if you have something to follow when you're putting tiles up on the screen. That's how I was able to make the Forest of the Ancients in about a day (I didn't work non-stop). It also helps to draw them when you have nothing else to do, so you won't get distracted. School comes to mind...

I couldn't agree more, redink1. That's generally the best way to do mapping. It's a lot easier if you have something to follow when you're putting tiles up on the screen. That's how I was able to make the Forest of the Ancients in about a day (I didn't work non-stop). It also helps to draw them when you have nothing else to do, so you won't get distracted. Interesting, I had interpreted hacking as in "hacking and slicing through endless hordes of rabid boncas". For some reason that seems to make a little more sense here, don't you think?

I don't know about YOU rustedsorrow, but the rest of us program d-mods into their computer!! It's not the layout thats the problem, is the tiring nature of building it with sprites!
