When you sign up for an account, they ask you for a valid email. Just go along with it and put in your valid email address. It's not that big of a deal.

I unfortunately agree with WC's actions, though not his 'i am staff, hear me roar' attitude. A valid e-mail address is required, otherwise I would expect the instances of multiple-accounts to become a rather large problem.

If you're afraid of spam and annoying Dinkers bugging you, there will be a 'Do Not Display E-Mail Address Publicly' option in the near future, probably tomorrow or so.

To comment on what redink said about me, I don't mean to have that attitude, it's just me, I don't take any crap nor give it, and sometimes it can get the best of me. I have a military personality, you should do what the authority figures say, if they are wrong, they will get theirs, but I promise I will try to be nicer, just in my past, nice does not work alot.

I had a valid e-mail all this time until that I changed the address (in Netscape) and then changed the e-mail address in my account, but in the side of
Netscape that address was not working, I wrote, in my bio part, that my address was not working and that I was correcting it.

Now redink1 say that the e-mail is to prevent multiple accounts. The people can have many e-mail accounts. How can you use an e-mail to prevent multiple accounts?
You said that you were using IP or something like that to prevent that problem.

I read that part of your Bio, and I gave you three weeks. I think you can get a e-mail in 3 weeks, it's not that hard. Get a e-mail then e-mail me, and I will fix it, untill then, I don't wana hear it. If this thread becomes anymore flameful, I will start deleting posts.

Talking of multiple accounts:

See, IceMan has two accounts, surely with two valid e-mail addresses. That means valid e-mail addresses does not mean only one account.

And IceMan has not created problems, neither I.

IceMan is a deactivated account, he can not use it. We left it just so that there wouldn't be unlinked names in the database (Which I will probably go back through and fix later anyway and then delete that account. Now, we didn't say it stops multiple accounts, but it will help deter it, besides, if we catch anyone abusing multiple accounts or registering them, we can and possibly will punish them.

You have no created problems, but we have rules and you should have the curtiousy to obey them while on the site. Just like if you break the laws in your country you can be punished, it's the same here.

Now please, just write a e-mail to be with a valid e-mail addy, and I will give you back your account.

To have my account activated is as easy as create one e-mail account and never more checking it for new messages.

At this point, you have not cleared for what purpose you need my e-mail:

You do not need it for contact me, because you have never written to me, and I believe you will never contact me.

You do not use it to detect multiple accounts. I do not believe you can detect anything by that way.

Well, if you do not need to contact me, and I have not created a second account, then, why you not easyly erased the e-mail address that was not working.

You say that I must obey rules. You say that rules are for the purpose of avoid problems. I have not created problems. You have used a rule against me. I easyly have the option of fool you giving you an e-mail that I can never check.

This is getting old, I will not humor this any longer. It's a rule Ivan. We use E-mail to contact people based on problem their account may have or to warn them on their actions. It's a rule, like it or leave it, it is in place for a reason, we need to know how to contact you. Did me deactivating you account solve anything? Yes, it solved the problem of having a account which broke the rules. So e-mail me or drop it, I will no longer discuss this.
