To see them, click here. If you can think of any that aren't there, some that shouldn't be, or some that just don't make any sense at all, please post a reply.

But Redink (after reading the unwritten rules) isn't it a known fact that you do not always read your mail?

Good spelling and grammar help, but aren't required.

Can't you make that something like: use at least capitals, make some decent sentences and use a spell checker?

How about these:

1. Not use words that are insulting (e.g. "Bastárd"), racist (e.g. "Nigger"), extremely right-wing (e.g. "Hitler"), or sexist (e.g. "Bítch")
(yeah, I know I break the rules by screwing up words like that, but it's the only way to example them, sorry)

2. Threatening or insulting a staff member for his actions or his role as a staff member. Claiming to be a staff member or claiming to have influence on the decisions of staff members.

I could agree if you think they're not any good, but, *heh*.

You haven't understood it have you? Rules is what makes a place nice to be. Rules preserve the rights and so of the members on the site, so they don't have to suffer from other people's idiotic behaviour, should they act idiotic.

but wouldn't it be nice that everyone would be so friendly, tolerant, and non egoistic so you won't need these rules?

Of course, but that's not quite possible.

The rules are not meant to be strict laws for everyone to follow without question, with severe punishments to those who don't follow them.

They are meant to be a friendly guideline for those who *want* to be a good part of this community, but might be a bit confused at why people yell at them.

For example, say someone got a computer for the 1st time yesterday. They don't understand this internet thing yet... and they accidently have their Caps Lock on when they post a message about FIAT in the General Dink Discussion forum. This seems like a little mistake to the poster, but some rather zealous individuals would rather yell at the poster instead of trying to help them.

No, this won't stop people who either enjoy being pretty stupid, or don't care to change their stupid actions. But it will hopefully help those people who *want* to be good.

Can you, redink1, ban WC for two months to see if the banning system is working?

I know I said I was going ot be nice, but fudge it.

Hey Ivan, redink banning me wouldn't work, I have the access to undo it, which means, I can easally ban you as well. Quit being a richard, it's against the rules.

Now Ivan, do not get mad at me because you broke the rules and I had to enforce them, if you hadn't done it in the first place, you wouldn't have this problem. Now, quit you crying and send me a e-mail from a proper e-mail addy and I will fix your account, untill then, shut it, you are doing nothing to fix it and I gave you very easy to follow instructions. If you do not like the rules, you do not have to be here or do not have to have to use a account.

That post say nothing about account or something like that. This is a separate thread. I have not mentioned accounts or problems.

And talk clearly. I do not know what is being a richard.

Thank you for posting those 'rules'. I had a hard time navigating my way through the Board to start with, And until I read this rules, I did not realize that there were two places to post a reply.

I think that guidelines for the board and other navigating on the Dink network should be linked to the 'sign up for account' menu, so that all newcomers will know that it exist and yet the regular members will not have that in their faces.

Thanks again for your posting.
