Old, OLD filehost that we used. Every 15-30 min, the ftp path of the file would change, so your downloads would get interrupted. No-one had dsl or cable back then, so large d-mods and dial-up made it all a pain in the arse.
You can think of using ftp as using a file-browser on a server. You can 'browse' files and directories, although all of the interesting ones require login. It's fallen out of favour as of late, if I recall correctly.
