It's more a problem that there is about 8gB (uncompressed) worth of mods added to a normal BGII install. They 'biff' (no, I don't know what that means) a massive override folder down to nearly nothing, just so the game can actually run. I think it's basically just a fancy system of memory calls, as opposed to keeping the whole override folder in your RAM.
