I prefer windinkeditplus, I find it a lot easier to work with. I don't know that windimkedit is better than dinkedit, just different. Really it comes to a preference of style, not quality so much. Here's a list of the merits between windinkeditplus and dinkedit...
DinkEdit-
pros:
easy keyboard navigation
fullscreen display
easy to edit sprite/tile properties
Sprite clippings (WinDinkEdit might do this now, not sure)
cons:
you can only save upon quitting (you must quit to save, and likewise, whenever you quit, you save)
seems to have compatibility issues with newer versions of Windows
WinDinkEditPlus-
pros:
you can view multiple screens at once
works well in windows
use of menus and toolbars
you can open and edit scripts while using the program
cons:
menus take a long time to navigate
can't do sprite clippings
can't fine tune positions of sprites
Again, it really matters on which program suits you better. Each does things well in its own way.
