Hm. That is Interesting that it works in safe mode.
Run msconfig and change to 'selective startup'and uncheck 'startup items'(reboot). That would tell if its something in that seq.
I think its safe to uncheck'system.ini' and 'win.ini' one at a time to narrow it down. (When mine was new those where empty anyhow, Merlin would know better though..)
BTW, I've known people to redo the windows install without reformatting to fix some things without loosing data. ( I don't think that would help here, but I though I'd mention it.)
