Speaking of GNU/Linux, I just remembered that there's a change in how Mix_FreeChunk(), the thing that clears SFX buffers, does things in later releases of SDL2_Mixer. In old Mixer releases, it would just clear the channel and continue on its merry way, however nowadays it seems to induce a segfault for reasons I couldn't figure out. I commented it out in early releases and didn't tell anyone in case it slowly leaked memory, but nothing seems to have come of it. Anyway, my assumption is that pretty much all packages of freedink-engine will be broken on newer distros including Homebrew on macOS, and that this is what caused twp's problem in the other thread. The fact that there has been only one post about this rather severe problem affirms my stance for the time being
