You feed the madness, and it feeds on you.
Seth is currently fixing DinkHD so Charlie's Legacy works on it, and in doing so, improving compatibility for other dmods.

This is the way Dink Smallwood has always worked. This is a flaw with the Linux version.

Yes it says it is possible to return values for custom procedures, and when it says that, it is using the example to get that value using the psesuo variable &return, which is the "last known return value from a procedure". That's working how it says it does, as Redink1 implemented when he added such functionality in Dink.1.08. works the same way in every engine, unlike &arg variables.

I don't know why you're trying to insinuate my dmod is to blame or something and I should fix it, it's not broken, and would take me ages to manipulate every script to get it working with the way that engine handles things. The engine it doesn't work on is faulty, plain and simple. There are ppl on the discord discussing why it's broken, trying to get it to build properly.

The solution is NOT to limit a dmods potential by restricting our scripting in such a way we have to work around an issue that makes it so the engine isn't giving each script number their own &arg1-9's, AND also not clearing them to 0 when NO arguments are passed. The solution is for someone to fix the Linux build so it works.

Freedink has a new maintainer according to the website, maybe someone should email and let them know of this fault.

EDIT. An update on the DinkHD thing I mentioned. Seth has been in contact with me updating me, and it looks like we are on track to having it working fully, so Charlie's Legacy can be played from start to finish. So far Push and Pull(which only previously worked on FreeDink, and would lag on DinkHD), now actually runs smoother on DinkHD.

EDIT2: Some folks are already coming up with a fix, so it might just be a case of getting the current maintainer to make those changes officially..
