It seems to me that you have declared the patient deceased before checking his pulse. Yes, the future does not look as good as the glorious past, when the site was more active and there were more active members of the DN and there was a heyday of dmod production, as well as an active maintenance of various forms of the Dink engine.
But guess what? It still works! Maybe we should stop worrying about the fact that the site will die someday and instead enjoy the fact that it is still alive and dmods can still be played.
It is not uncommon for some programs to be written years ago and still be executable on modern platforms. Such IS the case now for several versions of the Dink Engine and such is the case for the Dink Engine into the foreseeable future. Things might still "get better". Where there is life, there is hope. Don't forget the web versions of Dink... they can go on for quite some time even if future operating systems don't support a version of the Dink engine more directly.
Enjoy life while you can Skurn, it is short. Stop fretting about the ugly future. If you cannot do so, then please leave. You will be missed (really!), I can assure you, but at present, this kind of moping about the "awful" future can only drive others away.
