I think it just has a good combination of nicely done pre-rendered 3D along with a really nice soundtrack
Pre-rendered 3D graphics are one of the best type. That's one of the reasons I started playing Dink. If I were to judge the graphics of a game, I wouldn't say "I hate that game for having such old graphics" or something like that. For me, the graphics of a game are "interesting" at best and "boring" at worst.
As for the soundtrack, DUCK YES
