You killed the duck? I think that means you can no longer win the game; you need it later. I didn't realize you could actually kill it...
You should have found a riddle on a paper; it's actually a "treasure map", leading you to the next part of the game. Count the trees; don't expect to enter the same screen if you move down, then up.
