If you're comparing this to the drop rate of Diablo 2, then yes there is a significantly larger amount of loot drops. This was also the case in Titan Quest and Torchlight, two ARPGs considered to be worthy successors to Diablo 2 in their own way. I like the loot drop amount so much more than the ancient design in Diablo 2, which has also been carried on to Diablo 3 unfortunately. While playing the D3 beta, I found exactly 1 rare item in the field over 10-12 hours of playing. The end boss of the beta did always drop a rare though and I believe this is set in stone. Even magic items were very uncommon, you needed a champion pack for those basically. I can see how some people regard this as giving more value to items, but believe me when I say that in Path of Exile, while you may get more item drops, it definitely doesn't mean you get that perfect one you're looking for any sooner And don't get me started on uniques. Found only two uniques in all of my playtime
