One good thing about the US is that freedom of speech is protected. I'm always surprised when I hear about restrictions on it in other Western countries, and I think, "How backward!" But it's backward in a paradoxical way, because its purpose is to promote the progressive policy of making everyone feel good. (Well, I'm sure there are other motivations too.)
