Yes that's great and all, but you're not exactly the prime example of the common man like that 
A lot of people get offended all the time because someone doesn't share their religious view. Hence, they want to remove as many potential issues as they can. It's a flawed logic and pretty much the exact opposite of what they should aim for, but that's the world for ya.
