When Seth says: "A year time" he doesn't mean a year time to do something in the Dink Engine, he means a new engine with new graphics and new functionality 
So saying Redink or Simon could do it is pointless, it's a different game.
And Seth, without planning ahead I doubt there will ever be a year between projects for either of you xD If you do it, just make sure you stick to core of what makes Dink great: Funny dialogue and moddability
