I agree. I divide D-Mods into two rough categories: (1) games that are meant to take place in the world of Dink Smallwood and maintain some kind of continuity and (2) games that only use elements of the original but take place somewhere else. My thought is that even if Mystery Island isn't really supposed to be a sequel, it does continue the story. And then isn't the Fall of Tahmar meant to be a continuation of Mystery Island? I haven't finished either game, but that's the impression I got. Maybe there are other D-Mods that branch off from Dink Smallwood or Mystery Island and tell their own version of the next chapter. I'm not sure what the difference would be between these and a new D-Mod we'd call Dink 2.

I think the only person who could make a true sequel would be Seth, since it was his mind that came up with the original. But with fans making so many creative D-Mods, why would we need that? Is it just to have the reassuring feeling that we're getting the official story? Personally, that's not something I need when it comes to Dink, but some may differ.

Continuity and canon are interesting topics, but I won't get into it in this thread unless other people want to.

The other problem with the idea in the OP is that a mass collaboration on a game would probably be really hard.
