Um... extra features? And that's my point, it was clear from the beginning that it is going to be impossible to test all the D-Mods and that us lazy Dinkers wouldn't be much of a help. 
So, why start it in the first place? And it doesn't even cost that much, as you said, which is great for those who buy it, but not for the creators, which really doesn't seem very sensible at all.
EDIT: I kind of agree with Skorn here. I think this is pretty much of a rip-off, considering the game is free on the internet.
