If you don't have an account, just leave the password field blank.
If it's modded, you already have custom firmware, you know.
Anyway, regarding the problem: I've actually had this same problem on the PC (Linux) version of FreeDink. Turns out that sounds can sometimes crash the game, and it did so too regularly for me to be able to play the game with sound enabled. So try disabling sound and see if that works.
