If you don't have an account, just leave the password field blank.
I think it's the same as what scratcher is talking about (it's orange when drawing it in dinkedit but purple when you press space to reveal hardness.)
It seems to do the exact same thing as normal hardness. Maybe there were plans for a different type of hardness, but it was never finished.
