I thought about this for a while and came to the conclusion that I don't really know what ghosts are. Some traits that I think most have.
- They have a soul, or a part thereof.
- They used to be alive, and now they are some sort of 'reflection' of their former self.
- They only contain a small portion of their former self, meaning they have just one or two emotions and a simple goal. Probably something they feel wasn't finished when they died.
- They can somehow be detected by humans
- Humans are afraid of them, so I suppose they have some kind of power as well. Maybe only the power to keep us awake, but some power nonetheless.
I don't think I ever saw a ghost, was a ghost or will be a ghost though. Still can provide good basis for a story.
