If it also occurs in Dinkedit, it's very likely not a problem with the editors, but your computer.
Is the computer new, or one that has been recently formatted? Updating your video drivers might help with the transparency bug, as well as the font.
Just plain restarting is also always something worth trying, especially if you have just updated or installed something.
