Self Creating Maps
What does everyone think about the smaller terrain objects on a map(grass, flowers, mushrooms) randomly choosing a frame and then displaying it from then on?
I've used it extensively in Hide-n-Seek, to see what it would look like. Works pretty well for wilderness areas, although they need to be placed in "sunny" spots to avoid overlaping shadows.

I had this idea while ago too, but dropped it.
Generally, it's a pretty cool feature, but in the end I decided it's best to place scenery objects in places I find logical and pretty, instead of generating them random with the risk things won't look good for some people.

Alrighty, thanks for the input. I was mainly just planning on using it in the larger areas where a having specific sprite isn't quite as necessary. Does have oddball shadow on shadow effects and occasionally you'll wind up with a whole map with several of the same sprite. I'll probably just try to use them in moderation for Story, combined with more regular map design methods.
