Converting the old dink models
So I've been trying to find a way to convert the old dink .max files into a different format to no avail. Now, I realize a .max file isn't just a mesh file, it's an entire scene, so "converting" such a file isn't really a possible solution but you KNOW WHAT I ACTUALLY MEAN DAMMIT DONT BE THAT GUY.
So would anyone know how one would go about accessing these files and exporting the meshes within into a .obj format or something just as common (for those like me who dont have 3ds max)? Preferably without having to get a virtual machine running with an ancient windows version for an ancient 3ds max version.
And if there ISN'T any other way, would anyone kindly point me towards a downloadable 3ds max version that would be able to open said files?
THANKS!

there are max to obj converters online. Do those not work?
Max 2022/3 has the ability to export to USD through an optional plugin, and should be able to open a fair few of the max files that don't use plugins other than perhaps Character Studio. The educational or trial versions might be able to do it too.
dude, why would you want to convert a 3d model to money
