6 evil wizards steal the 6 jewels of peace. Dink is ordered to retrieve the emeralds or he will be executed.

In this Demo you get to find one wizard, fight him and then start the journey to the next village. Milder appears to block a bridge – but I thought he died at the end of the original game.

Graphics: Some modified wizards, some jewels and a few nice full screen bmps and item graphics.

Map: pretty solid with a fair amount of decoration.

Music: Didn’t notice it, although there is an end credit for new ones.

Sounds: Didn’t notice any new ones

Game play: solid but easy. Some things aren’t scripted like the poster stuck on a tree, but others are which all helps to add to the suspension of disbelief. The meteor idea I thought a nice touch.

Only one save spot –not sure why, may because it is a demo.

Overall: A nicely put together demo DMOD – no bugs that I could find. Not a whole lot to do, though and pretty easy.

Score: 8 out of 10

I wouldn't say this demo is exceptional, but some really nice stuff can be found here.
Overall, I liked this dmod. There were no mayor bugs, and it played just nice. Also the story is very well written. It may a simple plot but I like it this way.
It's about the 6 emeralds being stolen, and the 6 'Hodge Pogers' who actually stole them. You, as Dink the hero (duh) has to seek & destroy (searching... seek & destroy, tununuh, great Metallica song) them. However, since this is a demo, you can only deafeat the Fire Hodge Podger, get some sweet fire magic after beating him, and cross the bridge. Hmmmm, a bit short but that's ok.

Also new graphics, not much, but they do their job. I did hear a new sound, which was ok. Dink somehow won't play midis but I listened to them in the sound directory anyway. They were pretty good too.
I really liked it that the game showed the HP of the boss, the fire wizard. The boss himself was pretty easy, so nothing special.

The game was extremely easy, I didn't like that much, but then again, this is a demo, so that could be why nothing is really groundbreaking here. Oh and I liked the scrolling end credits

GRAPHICS 7.6: Map design was most of the time good, at some places a bit too empty. The emeralds (from Sonic, hehe) look good. I liked the loading and title screen, too. Overall above average.
SOUND 7.3: I liked the midis, sounds were ok. There were some midis that were not so good though.
GAMEPLAY 7.7: Very nice. Nothing was really great, but I liked it anyway, it was just very relaxing, like a game shoud be. Could be a bit harder though, and it was a bit short too. Story was pretty good too, which helped the game roll along (does that sound crappy?).
LASTING APPEAL 6: A bit too short, and no secrets or stuff. Too bad 'cause when the demo was longer, and a bit more 'fun', by having more quests, it might be an 8, but now it's an.....
TOTAL: 7.3
Nice demo, just a bit short and easy.

Dink has to defeat six evil wizards in order to get the six peace emeralds back.
In this demo Dink gets to find one of the six emeralds by defeating on of the six evil wizards.
Storyline: Apart from the intro movie, that is good, there is hardly any story.

Map and Graphics: The map is sometimes a bit empty. The load and title screens are very well done. The element index is nice too. There are no new graphics, although the wizards have different colours.

Music: Fits the situation well.

Good: The intro movie is real nice; the way the six wizards interact, and the way the text and the colours are used is original. The font is good to read. The reason there is only one savebots is acceptable, but if you want to be on the save side and save your game after killing some pillbugs, you have to walk a great distance between the savebot and the pillbugs. The only savebot that is available is used in an original way. When fighting the evil wizard, there is a statistic showing the lifemax and how many health points the wizard has got (left); that is really a very, very good thing, since I am always wondering when fighting an end-boss when I can expect him to have no more health left and, as a result of that, will drop dead.

Not so good: Not much of a story after the intro movie, and people just say one-liners. Since there is only one savebot and you have to level up a bit before you can defeat the wizard, you have to walk some distance between pillbugs and savebot. I could not find any way to get healed and that is annoying; you could either choose to be very careful when fighting the wizard with poor attack, or run the risk of loosing health when fighting pillbugs to get better attack before fighting the evil wizard. Some signs do not have scripts attached to them.

Overall: The intro to this D-mod is very good, but the game itself leaves you a bit disillusioned. The game does not live up to what the intro promised.
Fit for: Those who want to play a simple D-mod.

This isn't the best demo out there, not by far. The story is extremely simple, but not brought in an entertaining way. Defeating 6 wizards to get 6 emeralds is basic, but the least I had expected is a special quest and story to come with each of them. The only midi that is included, well... I turned my speakers off for the occasion. There are also some bugs and missing things to be found, but they aren't very annoying. It's also a very small d-mod, even for a demo.

Overall I would rate this demo : 4.3

Emerald Hunt is D-Mod where you must kill six Hodge-Podgers (evil wizards) and bring back emeralds they have stolen. In this demo you can get only 1 emerald back.

GOOD
-------

Storyline and Gameplay are awesome. Music is OK. I found only 1 midi bad. Milder is there too.

BAD
-----

Some signs don't say anything, and village is empty. There is only 3 houses and lots of free space. 1 Midi is bad, and It's short. (Yeah, I know it's demo.) It's easy, but great D-Mod.

MIDIS: 8.9 Almost all were great.
GRAPHICS: 8.5 No new, expect evil wizard colours.
SOUND: 8.5 No New
DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Easy
STORYLINE: 9.3 Great.

If you are looking for great D-Mod to play, download this. I hope the full version comes out soon.
