Re: Martridge's popularity
I was just thinking, Martridge's in a good popularity in Dink. I mean, Martridge was in a very little part of the Original Dink Smallwood, yet, he's in many D-Mods. He's more than half of the D-Mods existing.
It's just pretty weird, since Martridge was shown in Original Dink less than ten minutes. And yet, still the authors put him in their D-Mods. (Myself too).
So, this leads to my actual question. Does anyone know who was the first author who put Martridge in his D-Mod?
I'm not saying it's a bad thing Martridge is in many D-Mods, but think about it, it's still pretty odd. Because he wasn't the main star in Original Dink
Martridge rules!!

1) Make a list of all D-Mods with Matridge in it.
2) Sort by release date.
3) You now have a rough estimate of who put Matridge in his D-Mod for the first time (it's an estimate because it's possible that someone put Matridge in a D-Mod earlier than someone else but released it later).

Part 2 will be difficult. The release date for the original versions of the older DMODs is often not available on the Dinknetwork so...
And the presence of Martridge isn't really that strange anyway. Many DMODs require a wizard at one point or another so why not take one from the original game?

That should all be salvageable from the file dates of the .c files, shouldn't it?
Skull - I believe this comes from the fact that aside from Dink, none of the characters play a major role (aside, from, possibly, Milder). We know very little about them (and Dink's universe). Even King Daniel is little more than some random guy who gives you the last quest. You don't even learn about Seth and his attempt to Take Over The World until the very end of the game.
I believe Martridge is in quite a few D-Mods simply because of the fact that he's the only "true" wizard in the game (the Acid Rain guy looks like a farmer, and the secret wizard is a weirdo), and it's easy to make him a helpful (if somewhat incompetent) friendly wizard who will assist you and/or give Dink a quest.

All the ladies be all up ons for Marty.
Hehe. I still remember that BFTG scene.
(In fact, I replayed it a few weeks ago and found all of the secrets. Hey, better late than never.)

I wish people wouldn't always use acronyms for D-mods all the time, I find it very hard to remember which ones they were. The only ones I really know are SOB (Stone Of Balance) which took me a while because I didn't play it for a long time after discovering the Dink Network and CC, CC2 (Cloud Castle)
heres an acronym for ya':
D.E.S.A.
obviously the 'd' would be 'dink'...

No, and no. I guess you'll have to wait for it to come out, to find out!

Twin Twisted Tricksters?
AGEWTOTWA = Another Generic Evil Wizard Taking Over The World Adventure.
