Request simple graphics for Dink here
I don't have a lot of time, but I'm not very good at 3D modeling so I thought I'd make a topic where you could request some simple graphics for your Dmod(s). I'll get some practice at 3D modeling this way, and my motivation for trying to make it look good would be the quality requirement.
Okay, so if you want some (not too many please) relatively simple 3D graphics, request here and I'll try to make it.

If you can make some rock and roll instruments like guitars or drums, I would take those. They don't have to be good, I'll take
just about anything.
just about anything.
Alright, would you be able to make a bomb, like the one in Dink but ehh, better?
Or maybe a bed.
Or maybe a bed.
Aightz, what i need is some quality fire sword graphics, they got that elemental swords package, but it just aint my "cup o' tea" im lookin for a graphic where dink is holding the flaming sword in his hand, not that just when he whacks, all of the sudden flames shoot out of the sword. thats like... old school zelda stuff. so i just need u to do that, and ill be happy(er).
Thanks m8,

Three requests? This should be enough for a while, I'll try!
I think I'll start with the bomb, that should be easy.
I'm not sure if I'll do the sword. I've modeled a (very simple) sword before, but I don't know about the views. I guess I'll try and submit a bunch of views so you can rotate it and put it in Dink's hand as necessary.

DaVince, I'm not sure you'll be able to do this. Maybe after you've gained more experience, but I need a whole new character. Here's the description:
Male, brown trench coat unbuttoned with a blue shirt underneath. Tight blue trousers, also.
You know what a trench coat is, right? One of those ankle-long jackets that the Doctor (Doctor Who) wears?
He should just be the same height as all the normal male Dink characters.

This a trench coat?
Maybe later. A character is considerably more work and, as you said, I'd need more experience.

Bomb. I will most likely need to improve it, right? Or is it fine? Do you need a sparkling fuse animation?
Yes, they're both trenchcoats. But I want this to be partly open revealing a blue shirt (more open than that leather guy, though).
Hi, DaVince, long time...... I put up a post yesterday about Dink T-shirts. Know where to get any? Web search turns up zilch! Wanna make some money?!
What the... Ask Redink1. Or joshriot, he makes stuff like that.
It's about time I dig up this old topic I almost forgot about. Who still needs those graphics (lemme know so I'm not going to do some work for nothing)? Who needs some new graphics? If so I'd appreciate it if you would tell me what they're for so I can decide if I can/will do it.
Oh yeah, I only half finished the guitar, it has no textures and is a bit of a polygon mess when zoomed in. Do I still need to finish it for you?
Guitar so far.

I could use a pick-axe (being swung by Dink) and a simple log raft. Both being for Crisis of Cara.
The pick axe would have to be animated and fit right into Dink's hands, right? I'm not sure if I can manage to do that, but I'll try. Buuut aren't there official pick axe graphics anyway?
The raft I'll do, I'll have to think about the pickaxe though.
Edit: I take it the raft is top-view? Do you want a pole in the middle of the raft?

That's the idea. I haven't seen any that I can remember of. I do remember a battle axe graphic was used in Initiation, but I don't think I've seen a pick-axe. If you don't do it I'll probably just keep the sword swing graphic in place with the pick-axe icon.
There were pick axes in Pilgrim's Quest, I believe, even whole animations on it if I remember correctly. I suggest you look in there first.
The raft ain't easy to do, but luckily it's so low resolution it doesn't matter if it looks bad in detail, as it looks pretty good so far in Dink resolution.
EDIT: raft done. I don't know if you want animation in it, but I could make it bob up and down a bit if you like. Not sure if the angle is right, either.
Rafty!

That looks very good. Animation would be a nice touch aswell. Could you also have it rotated, facing a east/west direction?
I didnt see any pick axe in PQ. I also checked SOB and there weren't and animated graphics for it.

I'm pretty sure there is a pickaxe in redink's
Cast Awakening.
Cast Awakening.
I always confuse those two Dmods for some reason, so Carrie is probably right. Sorry about that! ...No wait, she's right. It's used in the mines and stuff.
Okay, I'm done. The basic animation is basically the raft bobbing to the left/right a bit. There are 30 animation frames for both the front and side, but a bunch of frames are duplicates you can remove, plus you could always remove some more frames for a bit less animation detail but also less frames.
Raft front and side views animated

So, I guess no one else needs their requests done?

I told you already to make me a bomb and be quick about it you stale old mouse eaten dry cheese!
Well, I made the bomb already (non-animated), but I also wanted to know if anyone still needs their graphics done since a few months have gone by.
I have a request, I'm not 100% sure whether I'll use it yet though!
I'd like a door, a bit bigger than the normal doors and quite strong looking, perhaps with bolts, chains or something like that on it. If you can make it animated so it opens, that would be great. The angle needs to be straight, so it can go on the back wall of a room.
Thanks

DaVince, remember how I requested a new character? I was wondering if you could do that now?
Actually, I haven't gained much experience over time because I didn't have the time to model much. I'll try anyway, but I'll be using SimonK's (?) Blender character template.
That's fine. As long as I get my character!
Could we get some recolors of the standard characters of the standard charecters farmer, merchant and the woman? Mainly just want the clothes recolored, leaving the rest of the charecter alone.
Well, Recolors are Photoshop/GIMP work, not 3D modelling work. Sorry.
You ever tried to recolour a 256 graphic?! It's dang impossible!!
There are programs for it. And slight palette switches. Though changing colours around on a fixed palette are a different story, I guess.
I have another request if you want to try. I need a quill in an inkwell for my DMOD.
Not anytime soon, sorry. The current jobs are enough especially considering I'm pretty busy with school nowadays (and I'd like to keep some other time free for my own game development).
I know that this thread is ancient, but duh.
DaVince, what program are/did you using/use for create/creating (argh) your graphics?
I'm working on a huge project, so any advices would be appreciated!
