Add your input: What I'd REALLY like to see... (Closed)
I'll start off with a few.
I'd really like to see:
A utility - a hotkey not in use elsewhere, for example - that can be used in any DMOD to get Dink out when he gets stuck in the scenery! This can happen, even in some of the finest DMODS.
Another utility that can make the main character walk as fast as with herb boots, so I don't have to use a cheat. The slow walking of the game engine takes far too long.
Cheats like the ones already around, but adapted to the new 1.08 version of Dink. If not, then maybe someone can invent a way to have Dink installed twice on the same HD, so DMODS requiring 1.08 can be played on it, while earlier DMODS can be played on the original version. It's a bummer if you have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the basic Dink game, depending on which DMOD you want to run.
I'd REALLY like the DMOD menu on this site to start showing again whether a DMOD is a quest, epic, romp, etc. It should never have been taken off!
Sometimes a DMOD will suddenly start showing pink "placeholders" under sprites and programmer comments in the upper left of the screen. Sometimes a DMOD will load that way, and other times something switches over to it. I don't know what inspires that to start, but I'd like to have a quick and easy (non-geeky, please!) way of switching that off.
I really enjoy those few DMODS that utilize sound files when there is dialog. I don't want the visual text removed, but hearing the voices makes everything more interesting. It would be great if DINK himself did a lot of talking that way. It's probably difficult to do, I know, but as a player, not a programmer, I can say it makes a big difference to enjoying the gameplay.
I may have more later, but it's your turn now! Let's TELL the DMOD makers what we would like to see them create. They might find it useful.

The Ultimate Cheat has a Warp function that lets you move Dink to any point on the screen. A one-button 'get me unstuck' would be sort of difficult to develop, as it can be difficult to 'see' where hardness is via scripts.

But... that does sound like cheating

DFArc allows you to choose which Dink.exe to use when playing D-Mods (Edit-Options-Choose Dink application). You could just have a dink107.exe in the same folder, and stop uninstalling-reinstalling at least.

You've accidentally triggered debug mode. Make sure the option is unchecked in your frontend, or you can press Alt-D to toggle it on-or-off. Sometimes it is a bit fussy, and you may just have to tap Alt-D really quickly.

I don't think there's much else to say. You summed it up quite nicely Redink!
I agree. Redink1 summed it up quite nicely, and there really was no need to say anything else!
I do think faster (What a weird name!) Should have searched around before posting that. Don't you?
Mmm... not really. It would take quite a bit of searching to find all that out, and anyway, this is what the forum is for!
Oh. Good point.
Yes, it is good point... I wish I could find the same thing in your sudden multitude of comments
/see, now I'm being a jerk.
