I think there is a problem with the cat emoticon button, I can't see the cat emoticon if I press it!
}:>< instead of

Also, why are there only this few emoticons?

Mmmm, pizza.
Can't see your problem concerning the cat. It's

curly-bracket-close colon dash less-than-sign

About this few emoticons. These are the most used emoticons you need, although I somethimes miss a :') or a :S. More emoticons often results in emoticon-whoring, especially when animated. I goddang hate animated emoticons.

I dunno, I may be spoiled after seeing the smiley set of one of the biggest forums in the world... but they do provide a better way to show emotions through emoticons: Link (some of these are animated). For example, the smilies here can only express 8 emotions (happy, unhappy, tongue, crying, wink, angry, thrilled and cat) where a bigger set can show more subtle emotions

IMO we should have unique emoticons- what would fit this forum? headless ducks... happy headless ducks, sad headless ducks, laughing headless ducks...

Eh, emoticons are a ham-fisted way at describing emotion anyway. If you want to portray a subtle emotion, you can use words to accomplish it. I fear the day when every joke is followed by a wink or a tongue.

And the Cat icon is only here because Alli was feeling crappy one day, so I decided to add the Cat icon to cheer her up. I think it was supposed to be temporary, but... yeah. That was like 2-3 years ago.

I stopped making emoticons after people said they were too vulgar, gory and/or disgusting. Emoticons piss me off. Know what else pisses me off? Using LOL, LMAO, ROTFL, or anything along those lines.

If you guys run out of emoticons, you can always do one in text. Eg: :-/, >:0( , O_O, X_x.

Okay, but about the cat, I know you have to type } : - <, but when you click on the cat there is a typo: }:><

I don't really care about emoticons, but I wondered why there were only this few.
Maybe one more emoticon? That headless duck sounds great!

But if emoticons only show faces then...a headless duck would just be a blank space... works for me...

I noticed the typed thing works, but when I click the cat button it changes the - into a >. That's what I meant.
Just hold your mouse cursor on the image left of the reply box and look at the link. It's javascript:emoticon('}:><') while it should be javascript:emoticon('}: -< ')...

I put a space in the last one because otherwise it would show the cat emoticon

Well, it is }: -< when I hover or click it so it's probably your computer that's making a weird thing of it - as it works like it should for others

Hmm... I think the smileys are used like this:

Wink

Hmm... I believe it means: "Thats right", either aimed at his/her post or another's.

EG: "Did you all know that clouds are red?"

"No they aren't "

------

Smile

Just means you are happy.

EG: "I had a nice day today "

------

Not happy

Opposite of smile.

EG: "My computer has a virus "

------

Tongue

Means you are joking around.

EG: "Maybe WC is going to be kind today "

------

Mad

I think you know.

EG: "YOU LITTLE **** "

------

Sad

You are just sad because of something

EG: "Lots of people died because of tsunamis "

------

Really happy!

Either exited, or just really happy.

EG: "I DID IT! "

------

Cat

Don't be crappi, Alli.

------

And then you can use them for the smiley rainbow!

EDIT: Sorry for the long post.
