I wanted to make an epic and I under estimated it. It thought I could make one in a few months. But I can't. I can't make in a few month's. When I am going to release it I want to have no bugs so I play my dmod over and over again and try and seacrch for everything bumping every wall etc.
We want to deliver a perfect dmod to this community. There is one thing for sure this dmod will be as big as the main game. It contains already 500 screens and It will be bigger. Most important in this dmod will be the new graphics and for instant for certain the new music.

Yeah, dmods always take longer than you expect. Whenever you make something, and think, "that'll work," it never does... drives me crazy

I started out making a DMod a dmod three months ago and thought it will be finished till May but I have only finished up 2/15nth part of my DMod.
When you think out a story you feel that it would take a few days or so to finish it up but when you start writing a major script and test out your work. There turns out to be twor or three mistakes in it or the whole thing does'nt work at all.

I know what you mean, I startet a community D-Mod for about six month's ago and I'm only finished with the map and it is the scripting that takes time!

Hmm... What would happen if we gathered most of the dinkers together and made a huge five-map 4000-script super epic? Just think, a month is 30 days. If we got 30 dinkers, we could finish in a day what we could finish in a month. Sure, every now and then, we'd have a little confusion and two people doing the same thing. But we could make the biggest DMOD ever in about one-and-a-half months.

Myeah, it has been tried with 3 - 5 Dinkers to create a D-Mod.. and it didn't work out.. 30 would be even harder but in theory, yes you'd get a big D-Mod.

But it's not only the time that a D-Mod takes that dinkholland's talking about, it's the time it takes to perfect it as well I think.

Unfortunately, if you had about 30 people working on the D-Mod, that would spoil a lot of the experience for a very large portion of the community

If you had 30 people working on a D-Mod, you might be able to get done in 7 days what one person could get done in 30 days. As a worst case scenerio, it could even take more time.

Adding more people doesn't always increase input, because of the fairly hefty communication overhead.

Yes indeed fellows making a big dmod is hard. Certainly when you want it be perfect. I hate it when a dmod suddenly wuit to windows or freezes up.
So a perfect dmod takes a lot of time.

And making it with 30 members won't make the creating time less. Because every one has its own ideas so everything must be discussed and dissing is taking a lot of time.

But anyway creating my dmod is taking more time then that I has expected in advance. I thought I could create a very big one in two or three months but I can't. I could but then It was gonna be a horrible one with a lot of errors and less things to do.

So for the ones who are interested in this dmod be patient and when it will gonna be released you will have a lot of dink fun for more then one evening because I think it won't be finished in one evening playing or one day.

For now be patient. You will be notice when it will be realesed.

Keep in mind the difference between making it bugfree and making it perfect. The things you mention there (freezes or kicks to Windows) are bugs, making it perfect it are small perfections that'll make the playing experience smoother and usually go unnoticed until someone places their finger on it. An example of what I did in my current work in progress: moving all sprites on a screen 1 pixel not to cause a black area with a choice menu that frequently appears on that screen

Edit: though, making it perfect also requires a high level of bugfree-ness.. somehow people still find little bugs but they don't interfere with the game.

You can't make it perfect. You can try, but you can't make it perfect.

Ok you're right guys. Then I will say it different. I want to make it with less bugs.
Yes it is better now. I understand that you can't make a dmod with no bugs at all. But you can try to make it with less bugs and with less hardness problems.
