anyone tried to play "the ants"?
Can't get the game to play. Just a black screen with version numer on it and music playing. Any suggestions?
maybe the file title-01 is fudgeed up!
Although I havent downloaded the ants demo I think your problem may be that you have extracted the files into a new folder when there was already a folder there. Confused? Just try deleting it and then extract the file straight into the dink smallwood folder without creating a new folder for it. Hope I made sense.

Glenn: If the title would be screwed, then it just wouldn't show properly. But the buttons would, though. And it wouldn't affect the gameplay in any way.
Lenny has the correct explanation... in the future I will try not to do that.
Well, your way is the "correct" way to compress something. It's just not what people are used to here. I really need to get on that .dmod file thing.
EDIT: That's a good idea actually. I'll start when I get back.

nope, same old folder, nothing new, nothing different. Straight into front end.
So what else could it be?
Edit: Ok, finally understood what ya'll are talking about and now it plays. Thank you, lenny.

Yeah, I prefer that too.. but since everyone here is used to another method.. uh, yeah.
Maybe I'll re-upload it zipped "correctly" if I feel like it.

Heck, a d-mod install wizard for the un-1337(tm) would be kind of cool.Maybe a program that auto matically creates an executable in the sipfile that extracts it all to the correct dirrectory. Some people have done this, but a program to do it would be cool. Or even one that puts a shortcut to thwe s-mod in your dink directory. I would be easy because all you would have to do is make a shorcut to the game with the d-mod name as a parameter, just like in DOS. Or even better, a contest to see who can make the best batch file based front-end for dink, which is entirely text based. That would be a fun project. Not very useful though seeing as we already have many better ones, but it would be fun, and i believe that this is a run on sentence, but it would still be fun.
I've tried to get Merlin to create such a program, but I've given up.
Essentially all .zip files on The Dink Network would become .dmod files, and after you install the Installer you just double-click on the .dmod, and it installs. You could still open it up in most traditional zip programs too, so that wouldn't be an issue.
Maybe I can get WC to do it...

Redink, I'm halfway done (And I started yesterday, so that's pretty good). It uses .tar.bz2 files.
